Just like I do with my clothes, I have recently found myself in a bit of a beauty rut. And with beauty, I mean make up. I have pretty much every shade of lipstick available; I’m not afraid to add colour and rock a bold lip. I have concurred the dramatic eye with a variety of shades, up until not that is. I was browsing around MAC having a nosey at the new Cinderella collection. As much as it is every bit magical, the soft shades and pastel looks don’t work with my skin tone. Enter Team Toledo…
“Isabel and Ruben Toledo lend their vibrant eye for fashion and art to a collection of irreverent colour designed to inspire endless play.” – MAC Cosmetics
This vibrant collection is much more up my street and the packaging is to die for. Deep tones with a splash creativity and I’m in love. Of course there was a selection of palettes, lipsticks, liners and mascaras to choose from. I was going to opt for the purple hues when I spotted the MAC girls all wearing the outrageous green shades. A far cry from my usual coppers and golden browns but I was instantly drawn to the greens. I’m a lover of lime within my wardrobe, but never with my beauty. Until now that is.
I have to admit that I was a little hesitant at first, but once the lovely girl at the counter gave me a mini make over, I fell in love. I was only purchasing the palette but after the eye liner and mascara was thrown into the mix, I had to have all three. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea but to each is own. Lucky for you all, there is a palette to suit everyone’s skin tone and eye colour.
Can we just take moment to appreciate this mascara! How utterly fabulous is the colour and the wand?! It is a twister style making it easy to get into the inner and outer corners of the eyes. I don’t know about you lovelies but I always end up poking myself in the eye trying to get every lash or smudging it all over the place. The lime shade is amazing, it is super pigmented and I wore it along the bottom lash line for a daring and different look.
Onto the liner! This is a multiple style product as you can wear it as a stand alone colour on its own or you can use it as a base colour before applying the green eyeshadow. It was applied in the centre of my lid with the darkest shade blended in both the inner and outer corner of my eye. A nice change from the light to dark look. I personally feel that if you want maximum impact with this lime collection, you should definitely apply the liner before the green shadow as it really makes it pop.
I completely forgot to take a picture earlier in the day as soon as it was all applied so apologies for the not so good lighting. I’m sure you all get the jist though. Pretty cool, eh?
I’d love to know your thoughts on the look. I’ll hopefully upload a close up of the make up look on my Instagram when I’m going out for the night so stay tuned!
