My yearly recap of all things fashion, beauty, achievements and lifestyle is upon us yet again. Hard to believe how fast 2015 has went by. I’ve had many ups and downs but looking back it has been a pretty good year for the blog. Without rambling on too much lets just jump right into my favourite moments and celebrate the beginning of 2016. Grab a cuppa or a glass of wine if you’re feeling bubbly and settle down as it’s a lengthy but enjoyable post.
Fashion: Oversized Scarf & Dungarees
By far my favourite style shoot for the blog to date. It was my first time using my new Olympus Pen E-PL7 camera and it has without a doubt changed my life. I much prefer more of a bold contrast in my images now and the Olympus certainly delivers that. Of course the crisp white backdrop from this location helps but I just loved how the entire feature turned out. If any of you are looking for a new camera or wanting to start up your own then I would definitely consider investing in this camera, it is worth every penny. Beauty: How Much Is Too Much?!
For the past year I have featured many beauty/makeup features but this one has to be my favourite. I often get asked about my makeup collection and there are *some* people out there who enjoy telling me that I waste too much money on purchasing makeup, hence the post. I really enjoyed expressing my thoughts on this topic given the fact that my money is my own, as of yet I’ve no children and I pay my bills so I’ll spend it my way. If I want to treat myself to all of these fabulous beauty products then that’s exactly what I’m going to do. For much more of a joyful rant, check out my full post here.
Meeting My Icon: Olivia Palermo
When news first broke that style icon Olivia Palermo would be hosting a meet and greet at Brown Thomas in Dublin, I instantly knew that I had to get my hands on that golden ticket (or wristband these days). Ever since watching Olivia in the TV show, The City I immediately fell in love with her classic yet bold style. Her ability to mix prints amazes me and every leading famous fashion house adores her. In person, she was every inch as sweet as I imagined. Her tiny frame, flawless make up and chic style had me in awe. It was an experience that will live with me forever. I blogged about my day in Dublin, my nerves when meeting her and her actual make up product. Naturally you can catch it all here.
Throughout 2015 I have been busy working hard to establish more of a name for myself in the South of Ireland, particularly Dublin. Networking with various bloggers, collaborating with new brands and attending wonderful events has been an absolute joy. One launch that really stood out for me was the Pandora Christmas Party (full feature here). It was their chance to celebrate the festive season and new Christmas collection with an intimate variety of media influencers, fashion bloggers and Dublin’s finest socialites. The food was devine, the setting was magical and we were all treated like royalty. I’ve been extremely lucky to work with Pandora before to celebrate the launch of their Rose Gold collection which you can read here.
Personal Achievement: RSVP Women Of Style
A while back I was very kindly asked by Southern publication RSVP Magazine if I would like to be featured as part of their ‘Women of Style’ series. I was honoured and of course jumped at the opportunity to share my life achievements, personal style, career goals and travel favourites. Talking about my blogging journey, travelling to Boston and NYC and of course my favourite place to relax, County Kerry, was such a fun interview and something I hope to do more of in 2016. As a blogger and someone who is continuing to build a brand, it has been by far my most cherished moment of 2015. If you would like to see my full feature and interview feel free to click here.
By far my favourite trip this year (you can read my full post here). Two week’s ago myself and my man friend spent the weekend in Germany’s capital for some festive shopping, drinking and exploring. The Christmas Markets were outstanding, the architecture was incredible, the zoo was amazing and it was a truly relaxing trip. My favourite landmark was by far the Brandenburg Gate, such a breathtaking piece of art. Of course I managed to fit in some shopping, I added some new addictions to my make up and jewellery collection. I would definitely recommend visiting the city around Christmas time to see it all lit up, it’s such a breathtaking time.
I’ve been extremely lucky to get the opportunity to experience all of these wonderful moments. Of course I have had many more but that would lead to a very long feature. For now I’m just grateful to have the chance to continue doing what I love and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Here’s hoping to an even brighter 2016. I hope you will all continue to follow me and my blog on the journey and I look forward to hopefully meeting some new followers along the way. You can also come say hello over on my Instagram. Finishing things off with my favourite quote from Just Sayin’ Girl.
Happy New Year to you all. I hope you and your loved ones have a very happy and healthy 2016.
