If there’s one area of skincare that is underrated in my opinion – it’s a good makeup remover. Once upon a time I used baby wipes but quickly stopped when I learnt just how damaging it was to the skin. For a while now I’ve been using baby oil (out of pure laziness) but it’s a little too harsh for my eye area. They dried up quite a bit but I also think it was part hayfever too as the itchiness was quite intense. I’ve been shopping around for a little while looking at various cleansing balms to help break down and remove any makeup or pollution. Pestle & Mortar have made such an impact on my beauty regime with their Hydrochloric Serum and now I’ve introduced their latest addition, Erase cleansing/makeup removing balm into the mix. It’s an oil like balm that is designed to remove even stubborn makeup and of course those day to day elements such as dirt and any environmental issues.
Whenever you know you’ve a holiday coming up it’s the small things that you often forget about. I tend to write a checklist of various things I need to book in for. From taking care of my travel documents to making appointments for some beauty upkeep – it can be a busy time prepping. Trying to book in for appointments can be a little frustrating as you’ve limited time with work commitments etc and it’s more or less impossible to block book appointments or your day.
Let’s just say – the month of May was not kind to me! I was so ill for all of it and I also had to get an operation (I was supposed to get two but that’s a story for another day!). I’m thankfully recovering well after a bad turn but now I’m finally back on track and focusing on every Summer! *end of rant* So apart from everything mentioned above I’ve just been taking it easy and building myself back up.
Eyebrows – the bane of my soul. I’ve NEVER been blessed in this department and even when I go for over a year without grooming them .. THEY. DO. NOT. GROW. They cause me great upset as all I long for in life is a set of brows without bald patches, ones that can hold a tint for more than a day and don’t look like two little swimmers. When I first started working with the lovely PR folks at Benefit Cosmetics, I had shared my distress regarding my uneven caterpillars/swimmers and the lovely Mark kick started my brow journey. After a *long* chat about them, he sent me in the direction of their brow bar – enter the beautifully, talented Giannina. After working her magic over the years on my little rascals she has now proudly open her own exclusive brow boutique in the heart of the Lisburn Road.
In my previous features I would have put together a ‘My Week On Instagram’ post but seeing as I’ve been away for while, here’s an Instagram Update. I couldn’t possibly round up nine months worth of images so I’ve put together a few collages of my favourite shots. Even though I took a break from blogging I still managed to keep up with my favourite social media account. I never really lost my spark for it as truth be told it was enjoyable to focus on. With its image based themes and little content required, I loved uploading to it.
