Debenhams relaunch at Foyleside, Derry

During the month, I had the absolute pleasure of indulging in a very glamorous road trip to County Derry to attend the relaunching of Debenhams at Foyleside Shopping Centre. Myself and my plus one, Christine from Dolls House Journal spent the evening browsing the beauty department and getting some VIP details from various counters such as: Benefit, Urban Decay and Clinque.

On our way up to Derry myself, Christine and fellow FABBers, Katrina, Rosanne and Bex had a good old gossip with Vicki who was in charge of the event. A quick munch on some Pringles and Haribo and we arrived at the beautiful store. We first made our way to the restaurant that over looked the Foyle River and sipped sweetly on some Prosecco. After catching up with Laura from Debenhams, Scotland we made our way to the highly anticipated beauty floor. My eyes lit up as we can down the escalator, I was like a little girl on Christmas morning. It was hard not to make a run for every counter!

image

Our first counter was the lovely Benefit gals. I am a huge fan of the brand, I have worked with them over the year’s, I even get my eyebrows done by them here in Belfast. We were given an in dept brow tutorial on how to achieve the perfect brow shape and arch. Next was a lesson how how to create the much sought after winged liner look using the They’re Real liner in purple accompanied by the jet blue mascara. The funniest part of the evening had to be in their new treatment room where you can have ALL SORTS of waxing. Us girls got a little carried away and giddy when it came to talking treatments, very mature of us! (That comment is aimed at you, Ms. Doran).

The next port of call was Clinque where we had a run through of their skincare products. We also had a sneak preview of their new electronic face contour and sculpt. (sssssssssh!) Coming up for release very soon, this product is perfect for those of you who enjoy a little at home pampering in between facials. The girl on the counter also give me a little demonstration on the electronic face scrub (their version of the Clarisonic). It was pretty impressive how soft and smooth my skin felt afterwards. Used on just one hand (so I could feel the difference) she also showed me how it effected the application of creams.

Urban Decay was the final stop of the beauty counter tour and here we played around with the products and watched a quick 10 minute tutorial on how to create a flawless look. The crazed Smoky palette was also on display, it was the first time I got to see it in person. It is a gorgeous palette although I’m more of a warm toned girl when it comes to my eyehshadows. The brand is has such an edgy vibe and the products are so rich in pigment, I found it hard to concentrate as I was like a magpie looking at all of the fabulous make up.

It was pandamoanium once the tour ended as we were all very kindly gifted with a gift voucher to spend in store. I had a good idea of what I wanted to get with mine and I also paid a sneaky visit over to the MAC counter where I invested in one of their new Electric Cool eyeshadows. With my voucher I also bought the Urban Decay All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray and one of their new revolution lipsticks in the shade, Venom.

It was honestly such an amazing evening and I’m very thankful to Vicki, and Laura for inviting me along And spoiling us all rotten. I definitely need to take strip back to Derry to explore the city more.

Benefit || Roller Lash Launch

Benefit Cosmetics are reaching new heights when it comes to creating products that stand out from the beauty crowd and genuinely work. On Tuesday evening, I was invited to attend a secret event hosted by my main man, Mark and the Benefit team. Not quite sure what to expect, I was excited when the lovely Lauren led the way to reveal the Benefit Bus. Think of the Coca Cola truck beautified, painted pink, turned into a 1950’s vintage salon and stocked with lots of gorgeous make up products!

As soon as I entered the salon I was greeted by the lovely Jordan from Benefit London and the team. As I took my seat, my MUA for the evening was the lovely, Giannina. I sipped sweetly on some bubbles and snacked on delicious cupcakes. It was then that Mark revealed the big launch for 2015, Roller Lash! A super – curling and lifting mascara.

image

You can always count on the hilarious Mark (pictured with me) to give a fab presentation. He walked us through the facts and idea behind the curling power mascara. He’s all about having the craic and even made sure he was up to scratch with our Belfast ‘slang’ using the word ‘wee’ a few times. (Decent effort there, Mark!) 😉

image

OK, so before talking about the mascara, I want to walk you through the decor. Like I’ve previously said, it’s a 1950’s inspired salon. Pink everywhere with adorable Benefit branded cushions, bar style tables, vintage beauty parlor hairdryers, neon lights and hairdryer holders as lights. There was an array of make up throughout the salon, every product available from Benefit was on that bus. I was in heaven! P.s.. Ignore the happy yet blurry photo of me. I thank my friend, Willow for that!

Of course, with every amazing Benefit event comes the gorgeous goodie bag. We were all gifted with a pretty make up bag, the fabulous new Roller Lash mascara and Puff Off! (love the name!). OK, so I’ll start with the mascara. I have been wearing it for a few days now and I am loving the results. It is quite lightweight and it does exactly what it says on the tin. My eyelashes curled nicely without the use of an annoying eyelash curler!

image

image

Let me go through some Roller Lash facts, eh?

97% said it visibly lifts lashes.
87% said it gives long – lasting curls.
94% said eyes look more wide open.

Sound interesting? Well it is. I am a HUGE fan of mascara. It is an essential part of my daily make up routine. I would quite happily go foundation free any day, but I always need a touch of mascara. I have always worn Benefit’s, They’re Real, it is quite a heavy product to wear but I love it. Having made the switch to Roller Lash, I am loving the lightweight feeling, cute curl and easy to take off formula.

The wand is a little piece of art itself. It is a multi – purpose beauty that pays tribute to 1950’s rollers. It has tiny hooks (the hook ‘n’ roll) throughout the brush that grips your lashes to lift and create a gorgeous curl. Also, what I love most is that the wand has a tiny row of bristles that are for your bottom lash line. Genius or what?!?! 🙂

image

Along with the mascara and bag, was this hilarious eye serum, Puff Off! I’ve yet to use it, so I’m going to share their product information. With an iron style head, it is designed to reduce out your undereye puffiness and creases look ‘satiny smooth’. The custom ironing tip instantly helps smooth the look of tiredness.

Have I tickled your lashes? If so, this mascara wonder is set for nationwide release in March 2015. I would seriously suggest getting your hands on this, you’ll not regret it!

Happy Friday, beauties.

Best of 2014: Visiting the Benefit Boutique

On Saturday I was invited down to Dublin by the lovely, Sofia from Benefit Cosmetics, to visit their new boutique store located on the lush South William Street.

Having braved the horrendous weather, myself and my fellow blogger buddy, Christine (www.dollshousejournal.com), made our way to their stylish boutique on Grafton Street. I was fueled with excitement and anticipation as I was very curious as to how the store would look.

My eyes lit up as soon as I walked into the boutique. I’ve never seen such a fabulous store, it’s my dream store! The decor consisted of sweet candy coloured striped walls, vintage style mannequins and inspirational quotes covering the walls.

There was a great atmosphere in the VIP room where myself and fellow Irish bloggers enjoyed a catch up with Benefit babes, Mark and Sofia. At times it was hard for me to concentrate due to the delicious cupcakes and cookies that we had at our table.

The Benefit team walked us through their latest beauty launches for their new Lollitint and Porefessional transloosent powder. We also got to have a look at the amazing eyebrow gel that isn’t launching until March. Although us lucky bloggers got to get a sneak preview of it and a sample to take home. 🙂

It was such a fabulous afternoon catching up with the Benefit gang and finally getting to see the new boutique. Without a doubt, I’ll be taking another trip down to Dublin very soon for a day of pampering at the store!

My week on Instagram ♥

For me, the weeks have been flying in. I can’t believe that we’re into the second week of July already! I have to admit that I’ve been dreading this week for months now. Over this coming weekend, my very amazing man friend moves to America for one year. No doubt that I’ll be upset when he goes and I’ll miss him terribly, but, it means I’ll be jetting back and forth throughout the year. I’m happy with that! 😉

My Instagram has been busy this week between summer shots, fabulous fashion, mouthwatering food and beautiful images from Belfast and Dublin. I’ve been down in the south of Ireland this week spending precious time with my other half and attending some fashion and beauty events around the city.

They’re Real Push Up Liner

For a month or so now, I’ve been hearing all about Benefit’s, They’re Real Push Up Liner. I first got a proper look at it when one of my favourite beauty bloggers, Beauty Life Michelle, uploaded a video of her testing it out. Michelle was quite impressed with the product. I was due to head down to Benefit HQ at their fabulous BeneBoutique in Dublin for the launch, but unfortunately I was unable to do so. Thankfully, the lovely Sofia, sent me up the kit to play with.

When I first opened the package, I was extremely excited to see that included was my favourite ‘They’re Real Mascara’. I’ve worn this product since its first release. For years, my mascara would constantly smudge along my lower lash line, it was so frustrating!

image

I also noticed that Sofia had included a remover for the two other products. I had heard rave reviews about this as it’s strong enough to remove eye make up, but, gentle with your eye area. As the skin around my eyes are a little dehydrated and delicate, I was over the moon to have received one.

image

image

As I was saying previously, I am madly in love with their mascara. It does not smudge one little bit! I only apply two coats of it, it is quite a strong product, so you would only need a little bit.

image

image

Now onto the pièce de résistance, the liner! As soon as I opened the this fabulous product, I immediately started to apply it. At first, when I was applying it, I loved how smoothly it glided along my lash line and how close it went on to the root of my lashes. It was like silk and the thickness of the liner was perfect. I already had mascara on, and not once did it glump to my lashes. Result! It’s so easy to apply and the application process is great. It makes applying liner fun – the traditional liquid style was not my friend.

image

You can get a sneak peek at me wearing the liner in the image below. Honestly, it really is a great product. In no way am I trying to sell it, but for those of you who are fans of eye liner, then it’s definitely worth investing in.

image

The liner launches on Saturday 28th June. From reading all of the preview reviews and customer demand, I’d say this product will fly off the shelves. Get yourself one asap!

Happy Hump Day! ♥
