My Week On Instagram

There is a very Autumnal theme in this week’s Instagram post. I’ve been busy shooting some fresh outfits for all of you, I’ve even went on a little adventure and shot an OOTD on a very beautiful beach (you can read it here). Over the past week, I’ve had a few new beauty products to try and two in particular that I’ve been loving is the L’Oreal matte foundation and the Clarins lip oil. The foundation is marvelously matte and such a lightweight feel for an everyday look. The price is obviously appealing (£7.99 in Superdrug) and the lasting power is pretty impressive, a small touch up to my nose and T – zone is all that is needed.

I’ve mentioned on my Instagram that I’ve been testing out the Clarins lip oil and I’m really impressed. The honey shade is so hydrating on the lips and I hope that it helps combat my dryness during Winter. I put a balm on every day and night and sometimes they can still feel that little bit dry. Here’s hoping!

October Favourites

I actually cannot believe that October is coming to an end. The week’s have been flying in and before we know it we’ll be celebrating Christmas! I’m so excited for Halloween, I just love seeing the decorations. I think I’ll just opt for a nice takeaway and some drinks all while indulging in some scary films. I have been trying my best to save as I have so much going on at the minute. I’m hoping to update my technology gadgets, a new camera and laptop are on the cards so I must save like no other as they’re not cheap! That being said, I have managed to build up a nice little favourites corner of products, clothes and accessories to share with all of you today.

Beauty:

I recently invested in a new paint pot from MAC in the shade, Groundwork. It’s very Kylie Jenner esque for all of you 90’s fans. I use Painterly as a neutral base however I wanted a darker shade for a more deep vampy look. They are such good base tones and make blending out my shadows effortless! I’ve been absolutely loving red nail polish again. It’s such a classic look and my favourite colour to wear during Autumn. When Winter comes I usually opt for a much darker shade. It’s from Marc Jacobs and I recently featured it on the blog, here. I’ve been kicking it old school a lot with my trusty Benefit bronzer, Hoola. It’s such a universal shade and again is so easy to blend. I use it to warm up my face and as a light base shade for when I am contouring. I’ve been on the search for a new daytime foundation and opted for the L’Oréal Infallible matte collection. I’ve only been using it for a week or so but so far I’m really enjoying it. The colour match is perfect and it has a great last power, not very many touch ups required however as I have such oily skin I do need to work on my T – zone but other than that I love it.

My final beauty favourite for this month has been my Zoeva palette in, Coco Blend. It’s warm neutral collection with some beautiful deep reds and browns thrown into the mix. I’m such a sucker for a buttery texture with my eye shadows and this palette is no expection. The pigmentation is good however I would suggest mixing some Fix+ from MAC if you’re looking to create a spotlight eye as the highlight shades need a little help. Other than that I still absolutely adore this palette.

Style:

You’re all probably fed up from seeing my camel coat and shoes from, Next but they’re by far my favourite key pieces for this season. I featured them on the blog a few week’s ago ( you can read it here) and I haven’t stopped wearing them. The shoes are so comfortable to wear and the coat is incredibly chic and easy to style. When I was in Dublin a little while ago, I stocked up on some Pandora and Mango goodies. The lovely girls at Pandora invited me down to see their new Christmas collection where I was kindly gifted with this rose gold feather ring. I already have the matching necklace and I was dying to get the ring. I absolutely love it, it’s a beautiful statement piece while giving off a pretty delicate vibe too. I also ventured into Mango and picked up some gorgeous Autumn pieces including this floor length grey cardigan. Apologies that you can’t see all of it, I’m planning on shooting a look with this very soon on the blog!

Photography:

In celebration of Halloween, I wanted to share a snap or two from my favourite holiday. Last year I was in Salem for the festivities and had an amazing time checking out the town. It was an unbelievable experience and my real life, Hocus Pocus. Definitely need to back back again for a visit!

Have any of you got any plans for Halloween?! I love scrolling through Instagram to see how much effort people put into their costumes, particularly the beauty bloggers that I follow. Have a great one no matter what you get up to!

Beauty Edit: Top 5 Eyeshadow Palettes

I have to admit when it comes to shopping for palettes, I tend to stick to the classic (and somewhat boring) neutral shades. As I have dark brown eyes (that wasn’t supposed to sound as big headed as it seems) I personally feel that I can only wear certain colours that I’m comfortable with. They always say that blues are good for dark eyes but there is no hope in hell of me rocking a dated 1980’s style statement eye. However I have started branching out within the last six months or so by introducing some copper, cranberry and burgundy tones into my palettes. If I’m feeling flirty and looking to spice things up I will always reach for my MAC single eyeshadow in Cranberry and through a loose pigment pot into the mix. Saying that it can be hard to find your perfect palette when you prefer sticking to a certain colour collection. The palettes I currently wear are from high street brands that are perfectly affordable and easy to blend.

NARS: And God Create The Woman:

I purchased this handy little compact when I was shopping up an absolute storm in Sephora, Boston. I can remember when the first palette launched and it was incredibly difficult to purchase due to the high demand. Therefore, you can imagine my excitement when I managed to get my hands on the second limited edition. It is your classic browns and gold’s but it is just so pretty and the best palette for travelling with. No matter if you are going for a subtle daytime look or full on dramatic smoky eye, you can work wonders with this little beauty. The pigmentation is quite impressive, although lets face it; it is a NARS product after all.

Charlotte Tilbury: The Vintage Vamp:

We all know the impact that Ms. Tilbury has had on the make up world since launching a while back. We can’t get it here in Belfast so I always head down to a Brown Thomas in Dublin and shop up a sweet sweet storm. I’ve built up a pretty nice collection but today is all about her wonder palette, The Vintage Vamp. This is by far my favourite choice out of all her palettes. It’s a beautiful warm collection of nudes, burgundies and a fabulous copper sparkle shade. The quartz works in order of how you apply it and I always find myself reaching for it time and time again. No matter what season we are in, I’ll always create an updated version of a statement look.

Tarte: Tarlette Amazonian Clay Matte:

The mother of all matte palettes! This wonder product is a huge favourite between us beauty bloggers and You Tuber’s, the pigmentation is pretty sweet. The shades are almost too pretty to use with the gorgeous Tarte logo imprinted in each pigment. It’s the ultimate palette for creating a soft and subtly daytime look or dusky smoky eye. The product is hard to get your hands on within Ireland and the UK as Tarte is an American brand, the shipping can be quite costly. It’s just so pretty and compact enough to travel with. I’m really into matte looks at the minute so it’s a nice change from all of the sparkles.

Urban Decay: Naked 3:

When it comes to the whole Naked palette craziness, I not particularly a huge fan. Don’t get me wrong I do have the first palette but I have gone off it and never use it anymore. It wasn’t until I seen a fellow beauty blogger using the third palette, that I fell head over heels in love. I definitely prefer the as it makes a nice change from the browns and gold. The third one is more mauve, deep purples and soft pinks, a fresher approach to a smoky eye in my opinion. With a massive variety of shades to play with, you’ll become an absolute PRO at mastering the dramatic smoky eye.

MAC: Toledo Limited Edition Palette:

What I absolutely adore about this little beauty is how different it is compared to my other picks. It is like nothing I would usually opt for but when the lovely girl create a look for me using it, I immediately fell in love. It’s pretty vibrant and not everyone’s cup of tea but if you’re looking to try something new, then I would recommend trying this palette or one similar. It’s a great colour collection to work with during the summer months and I can’t wait to recreate another vibrant look. I actually purchased the highly pigmented liner and mascara to match it they help pull the look together and make it pop like no other.

Which palettes are favourites of yours? I would love to hear your thoughts and maybe build my own collection.

Not Your Average Friday

Today has to be thee most popular Friday of the year. Known as ‘Black Friday‘, it is the one day of the year when people go absolutely crazy picking up incredible bargains. I’ve been thinking quite a lot about America this week. With Thanksgiving yesterday and shopping heaven today (Black Friday), I have been reminiscing quite a bit about my recent trips to Boston and NYC.

image

For today’s American style festivities, I have put together a little collection of various interior, fashion and stationary pieces that I think would make a great retail therapy day. Whether you’re shopping online or pounding the pavements for the big day, try to remain stress free and enjoy the bargains. The styles that I’m showing today might not be on sale for the occasion, but that’s what makes them part of the ‘Wish List’.

image

I’m usually all about making a statement, but over the past few months I have been bringing things back to basics. Whether it’s my own personal style or jewellery collection, I am loving all things delicate. I came across a beautiful lingerie company on Instagram called, Oh So Lovely Intimates. They create daring and simplistic pieces that are out of this world. I absolutely adores their bralets, they come in a beautiful red, cream and black colour.

image

I’m all about interiors this weather as I’m doing a spot of redecorating and I’ve spent endless hours browsing for inspiration. The vintage vibe has really come back to live over the last year of so. When I was browsing on Next, I came across this quirky traditional telephone. I think it is a great detail to have in your home.

image

Organizers are my life at the minute. I rely so much on them as I find the older I’m getting, the less I remember. There are certain times of the year when I have so many events on in one week, I need a little reminder.
I tend to go to Paperchase for my stationary essentials. I spotted this pretty green birdcage print on their website, the perfect style for this season.

image

I have been hearing so many great reviews about the Giorgio Armani. I am dying to invest in this make up, I am in need of a good foundation that I can wear for events or nights out on the town. This foundation gives you a beautiful glow with medium to full coverage, perfect for me during the Winter months.

image

I have been lusting over the Bella Freud from Space NK for a while now. They’re incredibly chic candles with beautifully simplistic designs. What more, they smell devine. With my decor project coming along, I’m considering purchasing this little beauty as a present to myself for all of the hard work. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could get personalised candles, then I would really feel sophisticated!

I wish you all a very happy day of retail therapy. I’m excited to stock up on some bargains today.

Happy Friday, lovelies.
