All That Glory

For a long time, I have been meaning to check out Soap & Glory and their make up collection. I already have their skincare products and I am excited to start using their products. I have been hearing so much from various beauty bloggers Vivianna Does Make Up and vlogger, Jamie Genevieve. I’ve been watching Anna’s YouTube videos for a while now and she always raves about their Solar Powder Multi Shade Bronzer. On Saturday, I was watching Jamie’s latest video and she shared the Kick Ass Concealer. I really liked the sound of it so I ventured into Boots and delved into a mini shopping spree. To balance things out I treated myself to the L’Oréal La Palette Nude.

I haven’t quite mastered the contouring game, however I’m hoping that the multi shade and highlighter combination will help me with the process. I don’t know if it’s my technique or skin but I just find it tough to blend. I spend a solid twenty minutes working that contour out and it still seems quite harsh. I absolutely love make up but sometimes I’m afraid to fully tackle it with the fear of looking like a clown.

image

Highlighters are my friend. I just adore them as they instantly lift my skin and give it an illuminating glow. The packaging and design of the Soap & Glory products are absolutely devine. The highlighter has been incorporated into the Solar Powder through their initials. It’s almost too cute to use! Last week I purchased the Real Techniques contouring bold metal brush. You can see it here.

I try endlessly to find that perfect concealer that will cover my dark circles. I am pretty self conscious about them, they drive me insane and no matter what I buy or how much I put in they always come through. I drink water like it is going out of fashion and still no joy. So now I’m at the point where I have waved the white flag and surrendered to them. Saying that I will forever try and test new concealers. However, when a concealer has the words, ‘Kick Ass‘ in the title, you’re damn sure I’m intrigued. It’s a three piece camouflage kit that is designed to conceal, hide and set your under eye and blemish areas.

image

The darling little compact is enough to make me purchase it. I’m actually quite excited to start using this despite my all of my negatively surrounding my dark circles. It’s a clever idea and makes being on the move that little bit easier. The left shade is for those frustrating bags and the right shade is for any blemishes on your face. The translucent powder is there to keep it all in place. It’s just too cute!

image

Now onto the much hyped about L’Oréal La Palette Nude. I have been seeing so many bloggers uaing this in their everyday beauty routines. It has been featured quite a bit and I have finally been able to get my hands on it. Now, unfortunately the joys of blogging brings some ‘out of my hands’ photography lighting. The shades in my image look more purple toned but believe me, it’s a beautiful warm nude set of shades.

image

I can definitely see myself creating a nice smokey eye. When I tested it out in Boots, the pigmentation seemed quite good so I am looking forward to testing it out in the coming days. I’ve a few nights out coming up so it will be the perfect opportunity to get creative.

If any of you lovelies have any great contouring tips please feel free to leave me a comment.

High Street Beauty Haul

I wasn’t able to blog on Friday so I thought that I would kick start the week with a long overdue beauty haul post. My skincare routine has been quite disruptive recently so I needed to purchase my trusty favourites, La Roche Posay and Liz Earle. I also invested in two beauty buys that I have been hearing about from various bloggers. I’m already a huge fan of Hourglass Cosmetics and Real Techniques bold metals collection. Add a some sweet scents to my shopping spree and you’re onto a pretty haul.

image

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish:

I have been an avid user of Liz Earle’s skincare masterpiece for a long time now. I use it morning and night to take off my make up and clean my face. You get two muslin cloths with this purchase which is always handy. They’re great for giving your face a thorough clean and taking every inch of dirt and make up off your skin. This tin set was part of their Christmas collection. For 150ml and two cloths, you buy £19. A good bargain of you ask me as the normal stand alone 100ml bottle is £14.

image

La Roche Posy Effaclar Duo [+]:

Now onto the absolute saviour of the skincare world! A few years ago, my skin took a turn and was constantly suffering from break outs. I have naturally sensitive skin but it was becoming a very annoying problem. Someone had suggested that I start using this and I have never looked back. It is beautifully moisturising on my skin and keeps any blemishes to a minimum.

M&S Perfumes:

Butterfly:

I believe that a girl can never have too many perfumes. However with that said, it can become a costly addiction. Therefore, I found two dupes at Marks & Spencer that cost over half of the brand prices. Butterfly is a replica of DKNY’s Be Delicious (the green bottle). I came across this scent at the opening of their new beauty department at the Sprucefield store. I was instantly hooked and I save a lot when I’m in between the month. It’s great for wearing during the day as I like to keep my ‘good perfumes’ for special occasions.

Isis:

Back in the day when I was a teenager I wasn’t allowed to buy perfume so I use to use my friends one. It was an Avon scent called Pure Blanca. Does anyone remember it or am I too old school?! Anyway, Isis is the double of it and acts as another great bargain busting perfume.

Hourglass Femme Nude:

Over the past two years, I have seriously become addicted to make up. I have so much that I have run out of storage yet I can’t help but purchase more. I find it worse when I make my regular trips to Boston and NYC. Every few months when I make the good old long haul flight, I reward myself with a trip to Sephora. You all know yourself how amazing that store is! Anyway, back to this post. For some reason, I never purchased the Hourglass Femme Nude shades. A solid natural lipstick is an essential part of my daily make up collection, so I am extremely excited to add this to the rest of my lippies.

image

Real Techniques Bold Metal Collection:

Saving the best until last, it’s the piece du resistant. There has been so much hype surrounding the Real Technique and their Bold Metal brush collection. You all know that I’m obsessed with rose gold, add a beautiful contour style brush to it and I’m in heaven. I haven’t got round to using it yet, but I’m really looking forward to creating a strong contouring look for a night on the town. I’ll report back soon with my thoughts on it.

Did all of you have a great weekend? How cold was it by the way?!?! I tried to snap some outfit posts, but the wind and coldness got in the way.

Sephora AW14 Make Up Haul

So, as you all know I took a little trip to the States over the Halloween break. Every time I visit I spend an unhealthy amount of money and time in Sephora. What can I say, I have a slight addiction and it’s like the mother ship calls me every time I’m around. For today, I’m just going to focus on my make up purchases, I will feature my skincare products for another day.

IMG_0989.JPG

I had a few key products that I wanted to purchase and the rest was pieces that tickled my fancy during my spree. I have to say though, I experienced slight devastation when I was informed that Lorac had stopped stocking in Sephora (and Macy’s), so it’s now only available online. I also tried to purchase the Christian Louboutin nail polish but it was sold out in the classic rouge shade. Even with this sad news, I stayed strong and enjoyed the rest of my beauty adventure.

Anywho, starting with my new favourite lip balm brand, I was introduced to Fresh by a lovely employee who worked at Sephora. I was also having a nosey today and catching up with some beauty bloggers and their YouTube channels and the adorable Vivanna from Vivianna Does Make Up had actually included a shade from the Fresh lip balm line as one of her October Favourites. I was well chuffed to for once be ‘in the know’ when it comes to beauty products.

IMG_0986.JPG

Recently my lips have been a little dry and dehydrated, so I was on the search for a good lip balm. What I love most about this brand is how they combat damaged lips while adding a pop of colour and sweet scent to their products. I bought their neutral collection for AW14.

IMG_0995.JPG

A good lip scrub is always an essential product within your beauty regime. I tend to use them most at nighttime just before I’m about to go to bed. I leave it on throughout the night in order to give my lips the best treatment during the colder months. Can I just say how devine this little beauty smells! I find it hard not to eat it if I’m being honest.

image

Continuing on with the Sephora goodness, for the first time ever, I spent some time at the NARS counter. I don’t know why, but, I’ve never really got round to investing in their products. Sometimes I can be quite bad at just sticking with products that I know work for me. It’s only recently that I’ve started to branch out so I thought that I would treat myself on holiday.

IMG_0990.JPG

I had been hearing some much hype surrounding their ‘When God Created The Woman’ eyeshadow palette. I adore a good brown smokey eye, particularly during the Autumn/Winter months. What makes this product even more perfect is the fact that it’s pocket size. You can carry it around everywhere with you and have a beautiful collection of shades to work with whether you’re going for a light daytime look or all out bold statement look for nighttime. Various beauty bloggers have been raving about this palette as NARS have just recently relaunched it due to popular demand. These little bundles of happiness are in demand so I would try to get yourself one now before they sell out.

IMG_0991.JPG

A strong pigmented lipstick is a beauty product that I cannot get enough of. I love adding new shades and brands to my lipstick collection. I treated myself to their latest collection piece in the shade, Brigitte. I have to admit, I would buy this lipstick for the packaging alone. It is an incredibly chic case and the magnetic clicking sound when the lid closes is enough to make heart skip a beat. That clicking sound is like a little piece of heaven, I know there are some of you beauty bloggers out there who know what I mean.

IMG_0993.JPG

I’m actually kind of afraid to use it as I don’t want to wear away the adorable little NARS print on the side of the lipstick. It’s the little details that count for me, they make it all the more appealing.

IMG_0983.JPG

Now on to the Pièce de résistance, Hourglass and their Ambient lighting palette. I know I’m a little late to the party with this one, but I like to take my time with certain ‘hype’ products and wait for the reviews. I’m all about highlighting, they’re one of my all time favourite make up products. I have a strong collection of my own, mainly consisting of warm pinks and golds. However, this time I decided to opt for a lighter set of shades for this season.

IMG_0987.JPG

With this pretty palette I can create the perfect lighting on my face. The shades have a soft focus finishing that recreates a flattering light source. With this trio, I can use them as individual shades or combine them for multidimensional glow.

IMG_0988.JPG

Like I have said, within the next few weeks, I’m hoping to feature the skincare products I purchased. Happy Friday, rascals. Have a great weekend!

MAC Haul

When that Debenhams beauty card statement comes in, things can become a little dangerous. When I see that reward, I immediately start to shop in my head.

I thought it was about time I treated myself to a MAC haul. I knew I wanted to purchase a concealer as I’ve heard so much about their Pro Long Wear. And in the mist of all this, I also purchased a lipstick and paint pot.

image

Starting with the concealer, I originally went in with the hope of buying the Pro Long Wear product. However, after trying it on, the very helpful assistant and I both agreed that it was not best suited for me. Instead I opted for their Prep + Prime highlighter in Bright Forecast. I’ve only been using it for a few days now, but I do like it so far. It’s not as heavy as their Pro Long Wear, but, it still provides me with good coverage.

image

Next up, I have this pro long wear paint pot in Painterly. It’s such a beautiful natural shade that acts as a perfect base colour. You can wear it on its own or under a smokey eye. I originally wanted a concealer for my top eye, but, the lovely assistant suggested this. I’m so happy that she did, again I’ve been wearing this since I got it and I’m absolutely loving it. It helps cover my dark eyes and gives me a more matte finish. Oh, please ignore the used marks on my pot. I forgot to photograph it before I used it. (That’s how excited I was!)

image

Finally, I have the mother of all summer shades to share with you all. I actually asked the girl what she was wearing as I was head over heels in love with the colour. It’s from their matte lipstick collection and it’s called Flat Out Fabulous. The title alone for me was enough to make me buy it, but the colour is out of this world. ♥

image

For today, I’m just sharing my purchases with you. In a few weeks time, I’ll do a post of them on me. Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

Sunshine Haul

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunshine filled day which meant only one thing for me – shopping! 🙂

Over the last week I have become concerned about the amount of shopping I’ve done. I blame being off work for Easter and therefore having too much access to online shopping. Saying that, I bought something during the week that I’m returning, so I figure technically I haven’t spent anymore. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!) 😉

I wasn’t in the mood to walk around the entire town so I stuck to four main stores: House of Fraser, River Island, Boots and Topshop. I knew exactly what I was looking for in each shop so I was in and out like a pro.

image

Starting in Boots, I wanted to treat myself to a well known brand that I’ve heard so many amazing reviews about. La Roche Posay is known widely within the beauty community, in particular their Effaclar Duo [+] Anti Mark Corrector. The product states:

“Complete care with reinforced anti-imperfection efficacy, to help correct the appearance of imperfections, even skin texture and unclog pores”.

I’m very excited to start using this product to see if it lives up to its reputation. I’m going to do a proper review of it in a few weeks so I’ll keep you all posted.

image

When I was at the House of Fraser SS14 press preview, I was gifted with a gift voucher to use in store. I wanted to treat myself to another skincare buy, so I popped my Origins cherry and purchased their highly recommended, Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.

It’s designed to quench your skin’s thirst using nature’s most nourishing nightcaps. Skin awakens your feeling refreshed, replenished and ready to face the day.

Again, I’ll be reviewing this little beauty soon, so stay tuned! ♥

image

Every now and again, it’s always nice to branch out and try a new look. For me, it comes in the form of adorable frilly ankle socks. I headed to Topshop as they have thee best sock collection around! It was a difficult choice to pick just three, but, I narrowed it down to these beauties. I’m excited to kick start my sock collection and freshen up my look. (P.s… Topshop have a 3 for £8 offer across their sock range!)

image

I spotted this adorable mini satchel in River Island a while back. I’ve been meaning to buy it, but, just never got round to it. I quickly ran into the store and broke into a slight panic when I couldn’t see the bag. Thankfully, this beautiful little gem was hidden away and I got the last in store! How beautiful are the colours and print? I’m so excited to start wearing it this season. It’ll look perfect worn during the sunshine! 🙂

To finish off my sunny shopping spree, I sipped on a sweet, sweet berry cider. Twas a fab way to end the weekend! ♥
