Belfast Fashion Week SS15 Launch

Today’s post is an extremely fashion based post. The return of Belfast Fashion Week just around the corner, you lucky lovelies are getting the VIP treatment with all of the essential information for this amazing event. Hope to see you all there, I’ve included the press release for today’s feature. Enjoy! 🙂

With the launch of its nineteenth season, West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK is now firmly established as a key date in every stylista’s schedule. This season’s launch at the BFW HQ in Belfast brought a splash of colour to a cold and wet January, and with it, the announcement of the popular FASHIONWEEK programme. Returning from 19-22 March, with nightly catwalk shows plus the return of Sushi Saturday and Style Sunday, Ireland’s leading fashion event continues to lead in the style stakes.

image

FASHIONWEEK Director Cathy Martin said: “Following on from a fantastic and remarkable milestone with our ten year celebrations last season, I am excited about showcasing the very best of our local designers and independent boutiques as well as international high street names once again this March.”

She said: “In terms of trends for this season, we welcome back some of our all-time favourite trends to the catwalk for Spring. Fashion fans should prepare for an array of zingy colour with a palette of citrus bursts – especially bright yellows and lime greens – jumping to the fore. An eclectic mix of vintage prints and fabrics inspired by fashions of the 1970s will also abound, with full flared trouser silhouettes and belted in waists everywhere. For evening, feminine ballerina shapes and fabrics give a delicate alternative to the bolder stripes, prints and colours for day wear.

image

No stranger to fashion trends, high-street retailer Next’s PR Manager, Chantelle Craig has said: “Here at Next we are truly delighted to be back on board for what is sure to be another successful season at Belfast FASHIONWEEK. We are excited to showcase our latest collections, which include spring floral prints, zesty lemons and luscious limes, appealing to our more daring and vibrant customer. However, we have not forgotten about the fashion minimalists with a stunning pale palette collection consisting of nudes, greys and whites. This season’s trends gave us the perfect opportunity to play around with silhouettes and shape, so you can expect to see feminine fringing and a super stylish addition of cut-outs, mesh, lace and sheer fabrics.”

image

In terms of the main schedule, Friday 20 March will see the latest collections from local designers and independent boutiques on the runway. Confirmed to return are Blush and Jourdan from the Lisburn Road, Diamond Dolls and Spoilt Belle Boutique as well as designers Grainne Maher, Nor Lisa and Chloe Dougan, among others. FASHIONWEEK new-comers this season include Mimi’s Roadtrip boutique from Moy in Tyrone and The Style Retreat, Lisburn. Dundalk-based designer Gillian Leavy, as well as illustrator-turned-designer Sara O’Neill, who will showcase her Èadach collection, are also coming on board for the first time.

Preparing for her first season, illustrator Sara said: “I’m very excited to be involved in BFW SS15 because, although I’ve styled various BFW shows and shoots over the years, this season I’m taking part as a designer, showcasing my Èadach collection. I always love seeing my work on the catwalk as a stylist, but seeing my own designs up there is really wonderful.”

image

Following from the ever successful designer night, style proceedings continue with the High Street Heaven shows on Saturday 21 March, bringing the latest looks from the nation’s biggest and busiest stores including Next, Marks and Spencer, Jigsaw, The Outlet, Banbridge, Excel Clothing, DV8 Fashion, as Dorothy Perkins, New Look, Designers at Debenhams and Miss Selfridge from CastleCourt.

For those unable to make the evening catwalk shows, the return of Sushi Saturday at the uber-chic Shiro is a welcome treat. The “Director’s Cut” fashion event showcases 36 of the best looks from across all shows at Belfast FASHIONWEEK, whilst guests enjoy a welcome West Coast Cooler cocktail and sushi platter – all for the bargain price of £25 per person.

image

Last, but definitely not least, the schedule will close in sumptuous style with the flagship Style Sunday luncheon at SHU on 22 January. This glamorous four course gourmet luncheon, which is run in association with Mencap NI, accompanies trend forecasts, a mini fashion show and the return of FASHIONWEEK Make-up artist Paddy McGurgan plus stylists from FASHIONWEEK’s hair partner who will host a mini masterclass on how to look fantastic throughout the winter. Best of 2014: Personal Achievement: Charity Challenge at Stormont

I’m sure you’re all aware that on Friday evening I was taking part in Belfast Fashion Week’s Charity Challenge at Stormont. As soon as I was asked to take part in this project I was extremely excited and to start shopping at my chosen charity, the Northern Ireland Hospice. Myself and twelve other fashion bloggers and stylists picked our chosen charities and began the process of putting togther our collections.

For the past few weeks, I gathered some looks from their Andersonstown and Finaghy stores. I wanted to select a collection of looks that represented my own personal style. On the night, I brought along a few of my own accessories to complete the looks. I was so excited to see my styles on the runway at the very lavish Stormont. I’m not going to lie, I was petrified of walking the runway with the model. At the end of the day it was about the charities and I couldn’t have been happier with my collection.

I’ve uploaded ten of my pieces so have a look and I would love to know what all of you lovelies think! ♥

Belfast Fashion Week AW14

On Friday night I attended Belfast Fashion Week and their local designers and boutiques show. All of the cities leading ladies were in attendance and all looking incredibly stylish. I love people watching during the shows as it is the perfect opportunity to take note of how they have created a certain look. It’s always an inspirational time for me and I often find myself thinking, “I never thought of styling that skirt that way.”

image

Friday was a very busy day for me so for the show, I wanted to wear something casual and comfortable. I opted for a complete Topshop look by coincidence. I have been wearing their bird printed longline jacket a lot recently and I teamed it with a burgundy lace crop top and white lace camisole. As you can tell, I’m really into lace this season. It’s effortlessly chic and easy to wear. I also wore my trusty leather trousers and tan ankle boots for the occasion.

image

I’m just noticing how pale I look in this photo. The joys of light reflecting make up and a camera flash, eh?! 😉

image

When it came to accessories, I chose my favourite tote from Tom and Eva along with my new Fiorelli necklace. I find that once I fall in love with a certain look, piece of fabric or accessory, I will wear it to the death. Are any you of lovelies like me?

image

The pretty Fiorelli necklace is of course a rose gold style. I have been obsessed with this style of jewellery for a few years now. I have built up a strong collection of costume statement necklaces so now I’m really into the more delicate look. I adore layering my jewellery, it adds a little more variety and creativity to your outfit. A few weeks ago, I attended the House of Frasers AW14 press show and we were gifted with a voucher to spend in store. I obviously choose this gorgeous necklace. Thank you ♥

image

I spent the evening with the adorable Aoife from Bella Malone and her lovely mama, Collette. Aoife is a fellow FABBer and all round cutie. We sat and lusted over the styles and models. I’m in the middle of growing my hair, I was feeling incredibly lazy on Friday, so I put a plait on both sides of my hair and pulled it back. I’m not use to this kind of look but I just styled for my mood. My make up was quite AW with a winged eyeliner look and MAC’s lipstick in Sin. I felt like quite a rebel wearing it!

image

Of course, the models were all absolutely stunning looking. Each look was just perfection, a strong model and flawless designer is always the ultimate combination when it comes to a successful FashionWeek. Cathy Martin, BFW designers, models and everyone who assisted in the shows did a magnificent job. I had a great evening, thank you!
