Meeting Olivia Palermo

Never in a million years did I think I would ever utter the words, ‘I’ve met Olivia Palermo’. On Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of doing so and I just can’t believe that it happened. I had given an interview a few day’s before to RSVP Magazine as part of their ‘Women of Style’ series and had named Olivia as one of my style icons and days later I’m talking to her. It all seems so surreal and needless to say I was shaking like a leaf. My jaw wouldn’t relax when taking the photo and of course it’s hard to look decent against someone so petite and beautiful. Haha!

The meet and greet was part of her collaboration with beauty brand, Ciaté and some of her lucky fans got to meet their idol. Her make up and nail collection consists of beautiful rich Autumn shades, buttery lipsticks and glossy polishes. There are also blushers and eyeliners available within the collection that are sure to cater to everyone’s taste. Taking note from Olivia’s favourites, the products were hand picked by her based on what she likes to wear.

I took to the road early Saturday morning in order to make it down on time. With my wristband on my arm, my adventure to the capital with my mama was well underway. When it came to me walking towards her I went blank. I remember introducing myself but some things after that are a blur. Haha. She was so sweet and even more beautiful in real life. The atmosphere was amazing and I was trying my best to keep my cool. It’s not as easy as you think when you meet your icon but I managed to do my best and Olivia very kindly signed my planner and took some photos. It was over in a blink of a eye but I will cherish my meeting with her forever.

Once the shock wore off and I managed to gather my thoughts, I swapped my Kat Maconie boots for some flats and went shopping. I thought it was the only natural thing to do after such an eventful afternoon. For the occasion, I wore my biker jeans from Zara, a monochrome top and my favourite grey sleeveless jacket from Topshop. For my accessories I opted for my large tote from Dune as I had shoes, LOTS of make up and books to carry. I figured it was best to over pack than regret not bringing something. I paired all of this with some Topshop dainty bracelets and a beautiful large statement necklace.

For the rest of the day I drooled over bags that I could never afford, indulged in some Abercrombie & Fitch and Charlotte Tilbury purchases and stopping for treats in St. Stephen’s Green. I had such an amazing day and enjoyed strolling through Dublin with my pretty mama. The perfect day for some mother/daughter bonding.

I just wanted to quickly share the gorgeous lipstick I bought from Olivia’s collection. It’s a lipstick in the shade, Velveteen and it’s so incredibly creamy. It has a satin finish and good lasting power. The shade itself is pretty bold with a dark vampy undertone. Also, along with my planner, Olivia kindly signed a card with her photo on it, absolutely loving it!

I think I’ll be dreaming of our meeting for a long time. Did any of my Irish followers get the opportunity to attend?! I’d love to hear your thoughts. Hope you all had a brilliant weekend.

High End Make Up Favourites

As much as I’m a lover of a bargain and high street purchases, every so often I love indulging in some high end treats. I always feel better when I treat myself to make up, it’s also part of the beauty blogging business investing in some products. (That’s my excuse!)

On a more serious note, I’ve quite sensitive skin so I do like spending a little more if it is a better match for me and doesn’t leave my skin in pieces. It took me so long to find a foundation that has good coverage, long lasting and doesn’t break my skin out so I’m more than happy to invest rather than save on money.

Charlotte Tilbury:

I first purchased some of her products last year when I was down in Dublin. The only place in Ireland you can buy Charlotte Tilbury is in Brown Thomas. It was one of her lipsticks in the shade, Bond Girl and it is such a beautiful product. It’s incredibly creamy and the colour is absolutely perfect for the Autumn season. I’ve also added a few more of her products to my collection such as the Film Star Bronze & Glow palette, Swish & Pop blush in the shade, Ecstasy, another lipstick called Coachella Coral, Lip Cheat pencil in Pink Venus and my favourite eyeshadow quartz in The Vintage Vamp. I would highly recommend this palette as it is so pigmented and the colours are just beautiful.

Hourglass:

Such a classic brand, I have always been a massive fan of Hourglass. It was when I was in Boston last year that I started becoming obsessed with their products. I spent time testing out them out and I had heard so many amazing reports from various beauty bloggers beforehand. I purchased one of their iconic Fenme Nude lip stylo in Nude N°6, the much sought after ambient lighting palette and until recently their new ambient luminous bronzer. It definitely is a more high end brand as their products can be quite pricey but the quality of them are so worth it and the packaging alone is to die for.

YSL:

The mother of all high end brands, YSL has become a strong favourite within the beauty industry. It took me a while to get round to checking out their products, don’t really know why. Of course, the first product that always come to mind are their magnificent lipsticks. I think I actually purchased my first one for the packaging alone. They are sooo unbelievably beautiful and rich looking. Each shade is represented around the lipstick tube which I love as it makes it easy to find. I’ve updated my collection over the past few months and I also purchased their new sun kissed blur perfector in number three.

Becca:

One of the newest purchases I’ve made and I’ve yet to properly invest in more products. The skin pressed perfectors are definitely their most well known and popular products. Moonstone and Opal have been their most sought after shades when it comes to highlighting, however a few months ago, Becca collaborated with You Tube sensation, Jaclyn Hill and created, Champagne Pop. It is a beautiful and highly pigmented peach/rose gold shade that I absolutely adore. I had a family member get it for me in New York as it has yet to launch here in Ireland. I know I’ve only one Becca product but I just couldn’t resist sharing it with all of you as it is just a fabulous highlighter. I’m dying to try their radiance primers and other highlighters, new purchases in the near future.

Chanel:

A cult classic and iconic brand, Chanel have made a household name for themselves within the beauty industry. Their products are timeless and elegant, much more of a matured brand in my opinion. They do have some bold shades but their make up is for a woman who knows what she likes and who often has a signature look. I always think of Olivia Palermo when it comes to this Chanel beauty as she is such a chic person with signature styles. She always wears a deep red manicure and simplistic look, she is everything a Chanel woman represents. It all started with a blusher (no.82 – Reflex) for me and trickled on down to investing in their Le Blanc primer, Soleil Tan De Chanel bronzer and a beautiful plum shadow in the shade, Diapason.

I know the make up I’ve shared today is all very high end but it’s just something I like to save my money for and indulge in. We all have our weak spots and these iconic brands are definitely mine. If any of you lovely ladies have any recommendations please feel free to leave a comment below.

My Week On Instagram ❤

My Instagram posts are back after having a short break during the holidays. This week’s post seems a little repetitive (but in a good way) as it involves lots of Christmas shots, beauty shots and things being photographed on the floor shots! 😉

My week on Instagram is all about pretty pictures that I wanted to share with all of you. Expect lots of sparkle, make up and my dream home.

How did all of you lovelies get on during the sales? I purchased a few pieces but I was careful not to buy things for the sake. As always, I will share them with you in the coming weeks.

My week on Instagram ♥

Back to reality this week after enjoying a few days off work. I enjoyed every second of relaxing and watching Will & Grace marathons. I even managed to squeeze in some shopping and cocktails for my birthday. ♥

I’ve put together a collection of my favourite images that I’ve uploaded over the last week. It’s quite girly with a hint of Chanel and Kate Moss thrown into the mix. 😉

I’ve become an NARSissit

A few weeks ago, I took a trip down to Dublin for a high tea at the Benefit Boutique. During my time there, I took a sneaky trip into Brown Thomas and treated myself.

Once again, I popped another beauty cherry and bought my first ever NARS product. Shocking I know, but, it’s better late than never. . Right?! 😉

image

I’ve always heard so many fabulous reviews about NARS as a brand, and I was very keen to try out one product in particular. Following so many beauty bloggers and their reviews about the brands Illuminator liquid, I just had to treat myself to it.
image

I opted for the classic ‘Orgasm’ shade. It stood out straight away and it was the first one I was familiar with. First, the name itself is amazing (haha) and I’m really looking forward to using it.
image

I love the warm, rich peachy pink colour with specks of gold reflecting from it. With a product like this, I will use it to highlight my cheek and brow bones. If I’m in need of more of a glow, then I’ll mix a little dab of it in with my foundation.
image

The product consists so many key ingredients:

Polar Berries, known for their antioxidant properties.
Bisabolol, known as an anti-inflammatory (obtained from the Chamomile plant).
Indian Frankincense, known for its soothing and comforting properties.
Vitamin B5, known to condition skin.
Sodium Hyaluronate, known to hydrate skin.

I’m going to use the Illuminator this weekend so I’ll keep you updated on my thoughts.

Are there any other NARS products that you ladies love or would recommend?

Happy weekend! ♥
