It’s hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone but now the time to indulge in some much needed PJ days and over eating has begun. I’m sure a lot of you have treated yourself or been gifted with a weekend away. With that perfect weekend away comes the perfect weekend bag. As you all know last week I was in Berlin and was kindly gifted with a beautiful printed bag from local brand, Story Horse. It is part of their ‘Chilly days out and Cosy nights in’ collection which also features knitwear, outdoor accessories and jewellery. The brands quirky name (which is exclusively available online), derives from an old Dublin saying ‘What’s the Story Horse? Meaning How are you? Read More
A brief post today. I’m flat out busy preparing and packing for my trip to Berlin on Friday. As much as I’m unbelievably excited, sorting outfits and making sure I’ve everything ready stresses me out. I find it’s the little things that are nagging as they’re the ones I often forget to pack. Given the fact that I’m an over packer doesn’t help. I won’t exactly be clubbing (actually I never do) but I can’t help but feel the need to bring my entire make up collection with me. Of course the weather comes into play as the rain can mess up a once beautiful outfit. Read More
PJ’s, bath products and perfume are always my most favourite things to buy. If I’m gifted with them for Christmas I get so excited and always look forward to having a pamper day. I was very kindly sent this Alien by Thierry Mugler luxury gift set and it immediately reminded me so much of a story book (hence the title). It is every inch luxurious and such a great gift for that special someone during the festive season.
For those of you who are new to the Thierry Mugler series and in particular Alien, the perfume comes alive in a faceted bottle (60ml) inspired by an amethyst and reminiscent of a precious jewel. The bottle is refillable and that’s what I find most attractive to it, a smart money saving tip. One thing I will say is that Alien has a strong scent to it. If you prefer light and sweet fragrances, then I wouldn’t suggest this perfume for you. The main ingredients used are Amber and Wood. Other floral notes include Sambac Jasmine, Cashmeran Wood and White Amber.
Also included in the set is a radiant shower gel and lotion (both 100ml). I always enjoy getting these as they are great for when I’m travelling. Without sounding too fussy, I prefer using my own shower gel and lotion when I’m staying overnight. Sometimes hotel products can dry out and irritate my skin. Plus the 100ml is the correct allowance for boarding planes. I’ve previously worn the summer edition of Alien so I can’t wait to indulge in the original scent and these beautiful lotions, a gorgeous treat just in time for Christmas!
I hope this post helps some of you when it comes to gift ideas. If your friend, family member or girlfriend is a perfume fanatic like myself, then I would definitely suggest treating them to this luxurious set.
With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve been thinking about style and beauty features for the festive period. I’ve been seeing so many gift guides online but for today I wanted to share some of my own products that I believe will make great gifts. I will upload a style gift guide from online pieces but today is all about my make up must haves.
I wanted to keep the selection short and sweet and opted for some new and much sought after favourites along with classic products for the more mature taste. I would be happy to do a bigger collection next time or even a stand alone brand feature. Let me know what you guys think by leaving a comment below.
Honestly, this is the blackest of black mascara. It is three times darker than any mascara and creates such a bold and highly pigmentated look. It doesn’t clump or flake which is a must have for me, there is nothing worse than the clumped flakey eye look. The wand is a thick and large brush for a more voluminous look.
For all of you high end make up lovers, this is one for the collection. The Charlottle Tilbury cheek to chic blush is an absolute dream to use. Such buttery texture, it is effortless to apply. I have mine in the shade, Ecstacy and it is such a warm coral shade. I accidentally dropped me, hence the crack. I would suggest saving this one and only using it when you’re getting ready. It’s a delicate product that is not really suited for throwing around your bag.
A new addition to my collection, I’ve been loving Pixi by Petra and their brightening peach under eye corrector. I have the most stubborn dark circles and it definitely does help tone them down. It doesn’t completely erase them but it helps me look much more awake. A must have for those of you who are in the same boat as me.
An oldie but a goodie, I got this perfume ten years ago when it first launched and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I partly loved it because I have a slight obsession with SJP and secondly it is such a timeless and classic scent. It’s definitely an acquired smell of white amber fragrance that I would suggest buying for a more matured perfume lover. The vintage style bottle is the perfect accessory for that vanity decor.
Saving the most luxurious to last, everyone needs a YSL lipstick in their life. It definitely has a luxurious price tag but it’s an investment piece in my opinion. The texture is creamy with good lasting power. Worn alone for a more sheer look, you can also add a lip pencil for a more dramatic and long lasting look. As I’ve always said, I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging. The classic tube with beautiful YSL branding around it makes it all the more appealing. I would be happy to receive this little beauty on Christmas morning!
I actually cannot believe that October is coming to an end. The week’s have been flying in and before we know it we’ll be celebrating Christmas! I’m so excited for Halloween, I just love seeing the decorations. I think I’ll just opt for a nice takeaway and some drinks all while indulging in some scary films. I have been trying my best to save as I have so much going on at the minute. I’m hoping to update my technology gadgets, a new camera and laptop are on the cards so I must save like no other as they’re not cheap! That being said, I have managed to build up a nice little favourites corner of products, clothes and accessories to share with all of you today.
I recently invested in a new paint pot from MAC in the shade, Groundwork. It’s very Kylie Jenner esque for all of you 90’s fans. I use Painterly as a neutral base however I wanted a darker shade for a more deep vampy look. They are such good base tones and make blending out my shadows effortless! I’ve been absolutely loving red nail polish again. It’s such a classic look and my favourite colour to wear during Autumn. When Winter comes I usually opt for a much darker shade. It’s from Marc Jacobs and I recently featured it on the blog, here. I’ve been kicking it old school a lot with my trusty Benefit bronzer, Hoola. It’s such a universal shade and again is so easy to blend. I use it to warm up my face and as a light base shade for when I am contouring. I’ve been on the search for a new daytime foundation and opted for the L’Oréal Infallible matte collection. I’ve only been using it for a week or so but so far I’m really enjoying it. The colour match is perfect and it has a great last power, not very many touch ups required however as I have such oily skin I do need to work on my T – zone but other than that I love it.
My final beauty favourite for this month has been my Zoeva palette in, Coco Blend. It’s warm neutral collection with some beautiful deep reds and browns thrown into the mix. I’m such a sucker for a buttery texture with my eye shadows and this palette is no expection. The pigmentation is good however I would suggest mixing some Fix+ from MAC if you’re looking to create a spotlight eye as the highlight shades need a little help. Other than that I still absolutely adore this palette.
You’re all probably fed up from seeing my camel coat and shoes from, Next but they’re by far my favourite key pieces for this season. I featured them on the blog a few week’s ago ( you can read it here) and I haven’t stopped wearing them. The shoes are so comfortable to wear and the coat is incredibly chic and easy to style. When I was in Dublin a little while ago, I stocked up on some Pandora and Mango goodies. The lovely girls at Pandora invited me down to see their new Christmas collection where I was kindly gifted with this rose gold feather ring. I already have the matching necklace and I was dying to get the ring. I absolutely love it, it’s a beautiful statement piece while giving off a pretty delicate vibe too. I also ventured into Mango and picked up some gorgeous Autumn pieces including this floor length grey cardigan. Apologies that you can’t see all of it, I’m planning on shooting a look with this very soon on the blog!
In celebration of Halloween, I wanted to share a snap or two from my favourite holiday. Last year I was in Salem for the festivities and had an amazing time checking out the town. It was an unbelievable experience and my real life, Hocus Pocus. Definitely need to back back again for a visit!
Have any of you got any plans for Halloween?! I love scrolling through Instagram to see how much effort people put into their costumes, particularly the beauty bloggers that I follow. Have a great one no matter what you get up to!
