What’s In My Make Up Bag?

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be featured on Her.ie discussing all things beauty, particularly what I carry in my make up bag. I shared all of my must have beauty products that I use on a daily basis. I also featured some of my essential products that will carry me from day to night. I feel extremely grateful and honoured to have been featured so I just wanted to share it with all of you today.

As women, we all have the urge to have a good old rummage through other ladies make up bags. I think it says a lot about them and how they look after their appearance. Some can create a truly effortless look with minimal products, I however need a good army of essentials with me to master the ‘no make, make up look’.

I absolutely love shopping for make up and I could spend hours watching my favourite You Tuber’s creating this seasons hottest looks and TRYING to recreate my version of it. As I have quite sensitive skin, I like to invest a little more money into to my everyday look, however I still adore Superdrug for its purse friendly brands that I swear by.

Usually during a week day morning, I have around twenty minutes to create a semi decent face due to my sheer laziness to get out of bed. I keep it simple as I don’t like to wear too much. That all changes though come the weekend, I enjoy nothing more than spending some extra time blending out that perfect smokey eye or keeping it classic with a bold statement lip and a subtle contour using Soleil Tan De Chanel and highlight with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette

I kick start the process with a good skin prep and cleanse, and after applying my La Roche Posay eye cream and Effactlar Duo {+} products I top it off with some moisturiser and I’m good to go. I always prime my face with the Laura Mercier Foundation primer in Radiance, it’s my wonder product and it gives an absolutely beautiful glow to my skin leaving it feeling silky soft. This makes applying and blending my foundation and other products all the more smoother. I can never go without primer, I think it is such an important item to include into your daily make up routine.

Next step is my foundation. I have tried and tested an ridiculous amount of brands over the years for my oily skin type. For about two years now I have settle with drug store brand, Revlon. It was recommended to me by another beauty blogger and I haven’t looked back. Costing only £12.99, it is an absolute bargain and must have if you ask me. It is medium to full coverage and has a semi matte finish with a lovely dewy effect.

I have just recently switched my concealer to Urban Decay’s Naked Skin weightless complete coverage which I am madly in love with. I have problems with my eyes, from dark circles to Malia leaving me feeling pretty self conscious. I like a full coverage look that doesn’t leave my eyes looking dried up. If I apply powder, it ages my under eye area and some concealers crease around my Malia. I believe that concealer should be applied throughout your face to help balance out your look and help it look more dimensional.

When it comes to blush, I usually opt for a soft coral shade that is quite natural looking with a soft sheen. I switch between Benefit’s Rockateur and Max Factor. These two are a must have for me, they are bold enough to notice without overpowering my face. Topping it off with some Bourjois Healthy Balance powder to use in my t-zone and helps keep my foundation in place with the drastic cake effect.

Eyebrows have never been a strong point for me so I always need to have hem filled in, enter Anastasia Beverly Hills. I first purchases her Brow Whiz pencil when I was in New York and I have never looked back. It helps to mimic my hairs without looking too harsh and leaves them looking a lot fuller and tidy. As I have dark brown eyes I love creating a warm smoky eye using Charlotte Tilbury’s Vintage Vamp palette. The colours are absolutely stunning and the pigmentation is pretty impressive. This little quartz is so easy to use and blends like a dream. I’ll always top off my look with some Benefit Rollerlash mascara, it curls my eyelashes so beautifully and doesn’t clump or smudge around my eyes.

Finishing off with my lips, I prime them with MAC’s Prep + Prime. I have been using this product for years now and I swear by it. I love a 90’s neutral lip for my daytime look so I wear Boldly Bare lip pencil with either Hourglass nude lipstick or Charlotte Tilbury’s, Bond Girl. For an evening out, I would apply Make Up Forever’s Rouge Intense lipstick. All of these lip products are long lasting and never bleed, definitely worth investing in if you ask me.

So what did all of you think of my feature? I would love to hear your thoughts on all of it. See you all Friday.

Clarins Golden Glow

Ever since I attended my first Clarins event (you can read it here) I have become addicted to their products. I’ve built up quite a nice collection thanks to their glorious Aquatic Treasures goodie bag. Launching in May, I’m excited to share their Radiant Plus Golden Glow Booster with all of you. Within the radiance plus family there are two products available, one for your body (I’ll share this review with you at a later date) and the other is designed for your face.

image

I have a secret to share with all of you. I’ve never used a tan or colour enhancing product on my face or body. Shocker, I know. I’ve always been quite frightened of it. The streaks, the curry smell, the Umpa Lumpa fears have always been too much for me. However as this product is designed to give you a natural glow, I was somewhat intrigued. Another bonus is how travel friendly it is, I can keep this little cutie in my handbag and use it on the go.

It’s pretty easy to apply which is great for a first time user like me. It’s an oil based texture and it blends beautifully with your skincare products. The bottle advises that you add three drops however depending on what results you want, you can build it after your first few applications. The absolute fear of not having to wear a sock or glow and the hassle of whether or not you have to shower afterwards drains me of all energy so I’m impressed with the simplistic nature of this pretty gem.

image

When it comes to my fearful qualities from tan, I was pleasantly surprised that it is easy to apply with an even coverage and best of all, no streaks. Like I’ve previously said, you can build it up to a tone that you require. I applied a small amount on day one so there was just a lovely light glow but after that I found it very effective. It had a very faint fragrance for those of you who are sensitive to smell. As it is an oil based texture and combined with moisturiser, my skin didn’t feel dry as it was applied. Overall it gave a pretty natural glow. I would definitely recommend it for those of you who prefer a more natural look or if it’s your first time using a tan or glow product.

Now that I have my face sorted, I’ll be sure to keep you updated with the body verdict in a few weeks.

Oversize It

You may remember that last week I attended a pretty perfect event in the Fitzwilliam Hotel held by the lovely ladies from Clarins. For the occasion, I wanted to remain comfortable but mix up my look a little. Therefore, it was an oversized H&M dress, Topshop ripped jeans and standard ankle boots from Miss Selfridge for me. It was a last minute and relaxed look for me. Often when I attend events I will have my look thought out the morning or even night before if I’m being good. I paired all of this with my edgy rose gold spike necklace (my favourite) from Topshop and my absolute go to novelty handbag from Accessorize which is now on sale for £7.50! A brilliant bargain for such a trend setting piece of accessory. I just love metallics, particularly the copper style.

image

For my make up I created a natural and soft smokey eye using my NARS palette, And God Created The Woman. As it was a beauty evening I thought that it was only natural to pay a little more attention to my face. You can’t really see it in the photo and I forgot to take that awkward up close selfie so I just thought that I’d describe it for you. 😉

I always find blogging that little more enjoyable when I’m playing Grey’s Anatomy in the background. Although I’m often distracted when Mc Dreamy makes an appearance! See you all in my next post.

Aquatic Treasures

During the week I was invited to attend a gorgeous afternoon tea at the lavish Fitzwilliam Hotel by the lovely Jenny and Momina from Clarins. The event was set up to showcase their Summer make up collection, Aquatic Treasures.

It was the perfect setting by the toasty fire which was accompanied by a selection of mouthwatering sweets ‘n’ treats for us to nibble on. The sampling and discussing of the new Aquatic Treasures products followed with some girly chats about New York for good measure. My blogging buddy, Willow (a.k.a Ruth) from Willow Lane was with me and we chatted, sampled and took an unhealthy amount of ‘selfies’ for old times sake.

So. Back to the glorious make up. We were all there to play with and discuss the new Aquatic collection that will be available from May. It is everything that Summer represents; A warm illuminating glow, shimmering soft skin and a beautiful sunkissed bronze look. For the Summer nighttime natural look, I am equipped with every eye product I need for that soft but strong smokey eye. I am super excited to test out their Eclat Minute Base Illuminatrice as I love a good radiance product. It will look perfect worn as a primer or on its own for those make up free days. It comes in two shades, Apricot and Golden Bronze which is great for when I’m in holiday with a tan. To say that we were spoilt with beautiful gifts today is a slight understatement.

Would you just look at that bronzer?!?! The packaging alone is fabulous, it has an amazing compact mirror for touching up your make up throughout the day. What I love most about the bronzer is how it comes in four different subtle shades. Starting from the top left, it is more of an highlighter and is great for brightening up the key points of your cheecks and face. For when it comes to creating the perfect contouring look, plent the palette together for that summer glow.

Over the past year, I have become obsessed with eyeshadows whether they’re single shades or glorious palettes. I was immediately drawn to their cream to powder colours. I have seen other beauty bloggers such as Victoria from In The Frow rave about their waterproof mascara and khol liner pencil. When I first applied the liner to my hand, I absolutely adored how creamy it was. It blended beautifully with the smudger on the opposite side of the pencil. I am extremely excited about using this beauty over the weekend.

I was honestly floored when the lovely Jenny and Momina handed me my goodie bag. They put together such a brilliant event and took care of us so well. I loved the one on one interaction, it was a nice change from the normal beauty event as it was more intimate and personal.

*** Please note: The Radiance – Plus Golden Glow is available from counters and online from March. The limited edition Shimmer Body Oil will be launching in May alongside the make up.

Again, thank you so much to Momina and Jenny for having me. I had such a brilliant time and look forward to any future events.

I’m planning on spending my weekend creating some looks using all of these gorgeous products. I will be sure to keep all of you lovelies up to date with the products.

L.K Bennett Pop Up Clearance Store

Yesterday I was invited to attend a bloggers preview of L.K Bennett’s pop up clearance store at The Outlet, Banbridge. It was the perfect way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon and I got the opportunity to catch up with my fellow bloggers and I got to meet the lovely Rosanna from www.silverbrogues.wordpress.com

image

There was a wide variety of beautiful bargains to browse, from show stopping platforms to elegant dresses, myself and my mummy, had a ball shopping up a stylish L.K Bennett storm. The lady little also managed to bag herself two pairs of shoes for the bargain price of £20! Amazing! 🙂

image

The lovely folks at the store also allowed us lucky bloggers to take away a free pair of shoes. After some deliberating, I opted for a stunning printed pair of classic stilettos, and treated myself to a magnificent pair of coral wedges.

image

A stunning shoe is important to us ladies, but, the fact that both of these styles are extremely comfortable is an amazing bonus. I can definitely see myself wearing these for any occasions/nights out on the town. 🙂

image

image

They’re both completely different styles and that’s what I love about them, when I shop, I like to pick things that are so unique and different. At first, I thought the wedges would be too high, but, they are so comfortable and very easy to walk in. The strap helps makes walking in them a little easier, I just love them!

image

image

Included in the goodie bag was a fabulous Clarins beauty gift set. It’ll be perfect to take with me to Spain, they’re travel sized and the bag is big enough to hold my toiletries. All in all, it was the perfect way to spend my Friday afternoon.

The L.K. Bennett pop up clearance store is now open to the public and well worth a visit. With up to 90% off clothes, shoes and bags, you need to get down to The Outlet and treat yourself this season. Thank you to the lovely ladies and gent at L.K Bennett for having us. 🙂
