I have a serious love/hate relationship with my skin but I’d say over the past year it’s thankfully been more love than hate. After attending an event by the lovely folks at Image Skincare a few year’s ago, I got into conversation regarding my skin. They recommended I visit Réjouir Skin Clinic (you can read all about it here) on the Lisburn Road. During the visit I learnt that my previous skincare routine had to go. I was using the wrong products, to be honest I didn’t have enough knowledge to even understand what I had been using. The lovely owner Pamela, explained to me in detail (she has the patience of a saint) and after me asking a hella lot of questions I was on the road to skin recovery.
It’s official. I hate my skin. I’ve no idea what is going on with it, but, for some reason it plans on annoying me… a lot!
It has been quite sensitive for a while now and I’ve been trying out different skincare brands. For a few months now I’ve been using Organic Surge. Organic Surge products are 100% free of harsh chemicals – no parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate, no artificial fragrances or colourants and no genetically modified ingredients.
I bought their anti-aging brightening hot cloth cleanser a few weeks ago. My skin has become a little dull and I’m trying to improve the condition of it.
The product claims to:
“Remove all dirt and impurities. They use the highest quality essential oils to help the skin look and feel fully rejuvenated”.
I’ve been using it for a while now and I do like how my skin feels after. I can definitely see that it is deep cleaning my skin, particularly after taking my make up off.
It feels like a soft conditioner and it smells delicious! The Organic Surge brand is purse friendly and the products have no harsh chemicals in them. 🙂
I also use their clean face wash, eye gel, skin mask and moisturiser. It’s safe to say I love the brand, but, I’m not promoting this in a “buy it now” pressure. Every skin type is different, once I have my skin under better control, I’ll really be able to enjoy the product.
Check out Organic Surge for yourself. They’ve a variety of products for different skin types.
Happy Friday ♥
Being part of a fashion and beauty blogging network has its major advantages. Not only do I get the chance to mingle with a great group of ladies, but, they are a team of strong individuals with great industry knowledge.
I do love my skincare, but, from time to time I like to ask some of the other ladies for their opinion. Enter the beautiful Nicola from Strawberry Blonde Beauty. Her knowledge of all things beauty is impressive and I came across a tweet she had uploaded about a skincare brand called, Organic Surge.
“Organic Surge skincare products blend powerful natural ingredients with the latest technologies to safeguard your skin and even help in its repair. Regular use of our organic skincare range will help to neutralise environmental irritants, combat free radicals and actively speed-up cell renewal.”
“ All Organic Surge skincare products have been clinically tested, dermatologically tested and certified as suitable for sensitive skin. Just like your skin, they are 100% free from harsh chemicals such as SLS, parabens and synthetic colorants and fragrances.”
I’m really quite excited to try out the products I’ve picked. I opted for their eye gel, blissful daily moisturiser, first class mask and daily care face wash.
I’ll let you know in a few weeks how I get on. Again, thanks to Nic! ♥
A few weeks ago I went for an amazing facial at Natural Touch on Woodstock Road. I’ve had a few facials before, but, nothing quite like this one. I’ve found it hard finding the correct beauty brand and regime for my skin type. I’ve pretty much tried the majority of brands and was recently using Philosophy. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think Philosophy is amazing and I really would recommend it to anyone. However, after attending my facial, I’ve now been trying out salon brand, Dermalogica.
What I loved about my day of beauty, was that with my facial I was given a face mapping skin analysis. This fancy little machine projected a purple light onto my face and showed up any areas that needed attention. From this, the skin therapist based the facial around my problem areas. It was honestly amazing, not only was it such a relaxing experience but I was genuinely being treated for specific areas on my skin.
From the mapping process, I learnt that my skin is quite dehydrated, I had been using products for oily skin which was draining it of any moisture it had. So, I was given a Dermalogica starter kit for normal to dry skin, and I’ve been using it for over a week now and I’m extremely impressed. I’m not just saying this, but, I’ve honestly and finally found the skin care product for me. 🙂
I’m going to quickly run through with you all the starter kit I got. It contains a special cleansing gel, multi-active toner, skin smoothing cream, gentle cream exfoliant and an intensive eye repair cream.
Starting with the special cleansing gel, it is designed remove any impurities without leaving my skin feeling dry or tight. As soon as I applied it to my face it foams and then I wash it off with a little warm water. Plus, there is no soap in it which is brilliant for me.
Onto the multi-active toner, this product is one that I really need to use. As my skin is dehydrated, I need to help build it back up by applying this and drinking plenty of water. I love how it’s a spritz as it makes it easy to apply. It preps my skin for the next stage which is applying my moisturizer.
I immediately start applying the skin smoothing cream, (moisturizer), after spraying the toner. It helps to moisten my skin and keep it soft and smooth! I find that it really smoothes out my skin and relieves it of any tightness. The next stage in the regime is to apply an exfoliator, but, due to my dehydration, it was recommended that I wait for a while before using it.
Eye cream. It can be a heaven-sent product but also a pain in the back side. The fact that I’m only 25 and already having to use eye cream saddens me. However, if I have to use it then I might as well use the good stuff. This intensive eye repair cream helps to repair prematurely aging skin while smoothing fine dehydration lines. That’s me 😦
Even though I’m finding it hard to accept that I need to move myself into the 25-30 box, I guess if I have to do it then, I should definitely start taking care of my skin. My facial treatment is part of a six treatment course so I’m very excited to go back again. If any of you ladies can, find a free face mapping skin analysis therapist and make sure you’re using the correct products for your skin type.
I know I’ve already blogged about my previous encounter with Philosophy skincare, but, this time I’ve fallen in love with their Purity 3 in 1 cleanser. Once again, thanks to the helpful advice from Dawn (www.inanityandthegirl.com) and Katrina from Sugahfix (www.sugahfix.com), I was soon on the path to amazing, clean skin as they recommended that I start working this cleanser into my very bad skin care routine.
I was using Johnson’s baby wipes to remove my make up and was completely unaware of how much it was damaging my skin. Now, to be honest, I thought that I was being cleaver using the Johnson brand as they are soft enough to use on babies bums, so why wouldn’t they work miracles on my face?!
Once I spoke publicly about my Johnson’s addiction, it was mama bear Doran who gave me a good talking to and told me to step away from the wipes and invest in a good cleanser, enter Dawn. If it wasn’t for these two beauty experts ;), then my skin would have continued to go down a very nasty path.
As you are all aware, on Friday 22nd March, a snow storm hit Belfast and also hit me when I foolishly decided to brave the snow and venture into town in search of the Philosophy counter. Despite what I thought was my trusty snow boots, I made it in one piece to Debenhams, and purchased the miracle cleanser. God must have been watching over me this day, and rewarded me for braving the snow as when I picked up the cleanser, the lovely girl at the till, informed me that they were giving away a mini Philosophy skin care pack with every purchase. Woohoooo!
So, let’s get down to the goodie bag. 😉
With this purchase I received samples of;
- Hope in a jar,
- Microdelivery exfoliating facial wash,
- Eye hope,
- Amazing grace fragrances (x2)
I was very excited with this as with the snow coming down hard and fast, I would spend my Friday night indulging in a much-needed (and deserved) pampering session. I asked some of my FABB gals, what they thought, were the best way to apply and use a cleansing product. In the end, with a little help from my friends, I applied it to face and only wet the Muslin cloth. I was amazed with how much make up is actually on my skin. It really does cleanse deep into my skin and pores and removes all make up and any dirt. Compared to what a face wipe will remove, I don’t know why it took me so long to convert, but I’m very happy that I have.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
