I’ve been going back and forth with this post for a long time. I never really get personal on my blog but when life’s obstacles get in the way then I feel it’s time to address them. Before I get into things I don’t want people to think that this is another blogger and her sob story. I don’t feel that I’m sobbing, doing this for attention or following in the footsteps of others. I put myself online regarding fashion, beauty and lifestyle but today’s post is a little different. For me to be a serious blogger I feel that it’s OK for me to let you know a few things that have impacted on me. If I want to achieve the best in life and also for the Niamh Kelly brand, then from time to time I will share what’s going on in my life.
If you’re a long term subscriber to my blog then I’m sure you’re all familiar with my trips to County Kerry. I spent many years of my childhood in the South of Ireland and it’s without a doubt my happy place. I love the rush of memories I get of my family and I spending our summers in the sunshine, at the beach and exploring. It holds a very precious place in my heart and I still take regular trips down to see my family. Known also as The Kingdom, it truly is with the breathtaking views, iconic beaches and simplistic lifestyle. I never went on my first foreign holiday until I was eighteen (Ibiza probably wasn’t the most sensible of choices!) and that is a part of my life that I treasure. I love that my family were old school and kept the Irish tradition alive by taking us all down South every year, something I hope to continue when I have my own family.
I first became a huge fan of Sara Donaldson when I watched my favourite show, Fashion Bloggers. Her natural beauty, simplistic style and all round Australian personality makes her a firm favourite and inspiration. Her blog, Harper & Harley has made a huge impact on the fashion world and she lives a very stylish life travelling the world, working with some amazing designers and starring in a hit show.
Featuring alongside top Aussie bloggers and style icons, Kate Waterhouse, Margaret Zhang, Zanita Whittington and Amanda Shadforth, she helped catapult herself into the blogosphere and kick start her career as a serious business woman and designer. The TV was a huge hit when first broadcasted last year on E! and now it’s set to return for its second season. I’m so excited to see what is in store for the new series.
The girls are recently enjoyed a trip to the fabulous Dubai which I’m hoping is going to be featured in the new season. The images that all girls are uploading to their Instagram accounts, particularly Sara is just breathtaking. They’re spending time taking in magnificent sunsets, shopping the souks and taking in the culture.
Attending events comes part and parcel with being a blogger. You get to experience some beautiful dinners, shows and even trips to share with your followers on your blog and throughout social media. Sara however has had the absolute pleasure of attending some exquisite intimate dinners by top name brands such as Mercedes Benz, Marie Claire and rstheCon, I could only dream of taking a seat at one of those but luckily she gets to experience it all for real.
When a girl shows some love for shoes, I share some love for her. A girl can never have too many pairs and Sara has an insanely impressive collection. From Balmain to Sophia Webster, she has an eye for seriously fabulous heels and unique prints. Even though her style is quite simplistic, she loves making a statement with her choice of footwear. Those Balmain beauties are unbelievable, I could definitely see myself styling those babies.
As always with my inspirational bloggers that I feature, I love to show some Instagram love. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that she comes from one of the worlds most amazing cities, Sydney. I envy her for that alone, it’s a place that I hope to visit one day soon so for now I’ll see and live it vicariously through Sara. Attention to detail is a must for her, she loves sharing shots that are natural and consist mainly of natural light. Of course I adore her personal style so I thought I’d share this breathtaking shot of Sara wearing this effortless white lace dress with a beautiful Moroccan style backdrop.
Hope you’re all having a fab day! What did you all think of the first episode last night?! I just can’t get enough of it, I’ll be watching it again on catch up!
Be sure to watch Fashion Bloggers every Thursday on E! at 9.30pm.
Shoes. My guilty pleasure. I have an insanely large collection and I’m proud to add another incredible pair to the family. I had been eyeing up these beauties for while and thankfully they were reduced in the Boxing Day sales. Finnish fashion blogger, Sandra Hagelstam collaborated with River Island in 2014 to outstanding success. I have featured the breathtaking Sandra and her blog, 5 Inch And Up before as part of my ‘Inspirational Blogger’ series. I found it tricky trying to pick just one pair as her collection is devine. Each style is so chic and sophisticated and I’m madly in love.
I chose the grey snakeskin ankle boots with a sock – look print panel. I wanted to purchase a pair that are unique and a style that I do not already have. I waited each day for them to arrive, to say I was excited was an understatement!
The chic snakeskin print makes them pop beautifully and I’m excited to give them their first outing. Having followed Sandra and her blog for a few years, I love how she has stayed true to her own personal style and it shows through her collection.
I’m not usually one for wearing stiletto heels, my feet are not the easiest when it comes to breaking shoes in. However, I wanted to try a new look and I thought that these beauties would be perfect. When I first tried them on, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were. Now don’t get me wrong, I will have to wear them around the house for a few days first. I think I’ll wear them as a dinner and cocktail shoe. As much as I would love to, there is no way I could dance the night away in them.
I haven’t had the chance to snap a shot of me wearing them, but I promise I’ll get that sorted in the coming weeks.
Happy Friday, rascals. I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Fresh into 2015, I’m kick starting my first post of the new year with my favourite ‘Inspirational Blogger’ series. I have had such fun sharing these fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers with all of you. Researching and posting new profiles helps me to progress as a blogger as I find empowerment in each person, their drive and dedication is incredibly inspiring.
Today’s lucky blogger is a chic and supercool powerhouse called Vanessa Hong from, The Haute Pursuit. I was instantly drawn to Vanessa and her blog when I read her ‘About’ statement.
“Wandering between Vancouver, Beijing, and New York. Blogging about personal style, life and everything in between. All photos are taken by dear friends or some times strangers”.
The girl is all about the attitude and that’s what I admire most. She is not afraid to be herself, she has found her niche and sticks to it. She looks straight into the lense of any camera and gives it her all. With her signature platinum locks, she stands out her the crowd and has made a very successful name for herself.
Every time I see her photos or read her blog, I cannot help but think about how editorial Vanessa is. Her shots are like something out of Vogue and she always looks magnificent, she takes capturing moments in life and for her blog to another level. She reminds me of Aimee Song only less commercial.
Branding your blog and turning it into a career can be such a challenge as today there are thousands of bloggers around the globe. Ms. Hong has been one of the lucky ones who has been given the opportunity to turn her brand into fashion. She has a collection of printed tops with her name, Haute Pursuit printed on each of them.
If there is one thing I wish to do in life, it is to travel. I think that’s another reason why I love following other bloggers on their journey. I get to see these beautiful exotic destinations that they have visited, inspiring myself to branch out and see the world.
If you fancy searching for new bloggers to follow in the new year, then I would definitely suggest looking up Vanessa. You can follow her on Instagram or sign up to her blog.
