Most people spend December going mad with some last minute Christmas shopping, finishing up with work and prepping for the big day. However I like to think I’ve been busy enough to deserve a mini city break (the absolute cheek) during the mist of it all. From 18th-21st December I spent four glorious days in Germany’s capital, Berlin. It was a joint Christmas present that my man friend and I decided to plan. Read More
With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve been thinking about style and beauty features for the festive period. I’ve been seeing so many gift guides online but for today I wanted to share some of my own products that I believe will make great gifts. I will upload a style gift guide from online pieces but today is all about my make up must haves.
I wanted to keep the selection short and sweet and opted for some new and much sought after favourites along with classic products for the more mature taste. I would be happy to do a bigger collection next time or even a stand alone brand feature. Let me know what you guys think by leaving a comment below.
Honestly, this is the blackest of black mascara. It is three times darker than any mascara and creates such a bold and highly pigmentated look. It doesn’t clump or flake which is a must have for me, there is nothing worse than the clumped flakey eye look. The wand is a thick and large brush for a more voluminous look.
For all of you high end make up lovers, this is one for the collection. The Charlottle Tilbury cheek to chic blush is an absolute dream to use. Such buttery texture, it is effortless to apply. I have mine in the shade, Ecstacy and it is such a warm coral shade. I accidentally dropped me, hence the crack. I would suggest saving this one and only using it when you’re getting ready. It’s a delicate product that is not really suited for throwing around your bag.
A new addition to my collection, I’ve been loving Pixi by Petra and their brightening peach under eye corrector. I have the most stubborn dark circles and it definitely does help tone them down. It doesn’t completely erase them but it helps me look much more awake. A must have for those of you who are in the same boat as me.
An oldie but a goodie, I got this perfume ten years ago when it first launched and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I partly loved it because I have a slight obsession with SJP and secondly it is such a timeless and classic scent. It’s definitely an acquired smell of white amber fragrance that I would suggest buying for a more matured perfume lover. The vintage style bottle is the perfect accessory for that vanity decor.
Saving the most luxurious to last, everyone needs a YSL lipstick in their life. It definitely has a luxurious price tag but it’s an investment piece in my opinion. The texture is creamy with good lasting power. Worn alone for a more sheer look, you can also add a lip pencil for a more dramatic and long lasting look. As I’ve always said, I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging. The classic tube with beautiful YSL branding around it makes it all the more appealing. I would be happy to receive this little beauty on Christmas morning!
So December has officially started.. Are you all breaking out the festive films or nervous as you’ve realised just how much you’ve to do?! I’ve popped my Christmas cherry by watching Elf and Miracle on 34th Street to get myself in the spirit. It’s hard to believe how fast this year has went, pretty cliché but it’s true.
I was sooo happy to finally get an OOTD feature up for all of you. Lets hope the weather improves for some more style posts. This week has been all about the Christmas Markets in Belfast (my Instagram is loaded with images), I’ve spent so many evenings walking around sampling food, nibbling on sweet treats and indulging in some Winter accessory shopping. City Hall just looks sooo pretty dressed up for Christmas, such a gorgeous backdrop for the markets.
(Quote from Just Sayin’ Girl).
I also treated myself to my first ever Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows. The pigmentation is crazy and the texture is absolute heaven! I’ll definitely continue to build my collection, I’m just so happy that Ireland and the UK can finally purchase them!
It’s a make up heavy theme on the blog this week and continuing on from my How Much Is Too Much?! (you can read it here) I wanted to share my new Morphe 35W palette with all of you. I’m sure you’ve started writing your Christmas Wishlist and I recommend putting this pretty palette at the top. I ordered it from Beauty Bay and it was an absolute bargain. For 35 eye shadows in a mixture of matte and shimmer, it is definitely an amazing palette for those of you who are starting off.
The pigmentation from the shadows are so good however there are some of them who require a little Fix + for more of a strong shade. Also I found when swatching it, there was a lot of fall out from some of the shimmer colours. With this I would just start with your eyes first then apply your foundation after to avoid a mess. I couldn’t swatch them all on my arm so I’ve selected my four favourites on my fingers and the entire palette on a page. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the Cranberry shade, I know I will be reaching for this colour so much during the Christmas holidays.
Morphe don’t name their palette shadows either but you can see for yourself how pretty they are. For £15, this is an amazing product and with so many colours in one place you can create so many looks. There are a few beautiful matte colours that will work wonders when you are creating that perfect transition shade. If you’re opting for that Kylie Jenner 90’s daytime look or dramatic smokey eye, there are so many colours to play with.
I don’t know if I’ll get the chance to feature a style post this week. It gets so dark during the week and come the weekends it has been raining. Apologies about this but I’ll try and have a new one up for you asap.
Within the fashion and beauty industry, a certain level of shopping is essential. It’s only natural that I enjoy the sport given the field I’m in. However, I often have people telling me I shop too much… but how much is too much? I work hard and have no children so my money is my own at the minute (obviously my priorities will change when I decide to have a family). I pay my bills, I’m not in any debt and I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. People have their niches when it comes to spending, some enjoy lavish cars, others it’s home interior and for me it’s clothes and make up. Spending money on clothes is somewhat of an necessity as I can’t walk around naked but I do enjoy treating myself to a top or bag that catches my eye. I have noticed recently that some people think I spend too much on make up in particular. Yes, I have a large collection that I take great pride in (and I don’t mean this is a bratty way) but like I’ve said, I work hard and I’m not in any debt so why shouldn’t I spend my money on what I want to?!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I’m still curious regarding this topic and thought I’d discuss it on here. Of course there are times when other situations come up such as an unexpected bill, travel or the choice to have a baby, buy a car or home. When the day comes I’ll naturally switch from make up to nappies (and I’ll be more than happy to do so) but until that day comes, Sephora and Space NK are my guilty pleasures.

I’d love to know your thoughts on this topic? What qualifies as too much shopping for you? Leave me your comments below, I look forward to chatting with all of you.
