At the start of May I took a much needed trip down to my second home, County Kerry. It’s without a doubt the most peaceful and picturesque part of Ireland to visit. I spent all of my summer holidays there as a child and now I have family living in The Kingdom. The weather was AMAZING and I made the most of it by revisiting my favourite spots around Killarney. There are so many incredible sights to see and Ross Castle was top of my list. The sun was shinning but there was a refreshing cool breeze making my outfit choice simple. I have been OBSESSED with my Oriental inspired bomber jacket, I literally cannot stop wearing it. Not only are the exotic prints a majestic feature but the material is light yet keeps you warm at the same time. I love those kind of clothes and it always reminds me of Irish mummies when they say, “Make sure you bring a light jacket with you. That one cloud in the sky is looking angry”.
Autumn is well and truly in full swing and the time to bust out the coat has arrived. I often find shopping for the perfect style, colour and print difficult as not all of them look flattering. I got this aztec coat last year from Marks and Spencer after seeing the fab Fearne Cotton wearing it.
It’s pretty light weight yet holds the heat like you wouldn’t believe. The silk lining keeps me nice and warm while the bold print does all of the talking. It’s by far one of my favourite pieces from my wardrobe and I wear it constantly during the autumn/winter season.
I paired it with my new favourite Zara top and torn boyfriend jeans from Topshop. I kept all accessories and make up to a minimum as there is a lot going on with this look. Sometimes I just love laying off the jewellery and focusing on the clothes themselves. By the way, how cute is the pink pom pom?! I’m really into them at the minute. I love mixing and matching them with various bags.
I’ve had these tan cut out ankle boots for a few year’s now and rarely wear them. Every time I get them out I tell myself that I need to wear them more (another strange trait of mine) and I’ll make sure I do this season. They are a really comfortable shoe to wear as the heel isn’t that high and they are so easy to style, I loved pairing them with my jeans.
Happy Friday, lovelies! Hope you all have a great weekend, I’ll be spending mine indulging in some retail therapy!
I wasn’t able to blog on Friday so I thought that I would kick start the week with a long overdue beauty haul post. My skincare routine has been quite disruptive recently so I needed to purchase my trusty favourites, La Roche Posay and Liz Earle. I also invested in two beauty buys that I have been hearing about from various bloggers. I’m already a huge fan of Hourglass Cosmetics and Real Techniques bold metals collection. Add a some sweet scents to my shopping spree and you’re onto a pretty haul.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish:
I have been an avid user of Liz Earle’s skincare masterpiece for a long time now. I use it morning and night to take off my make up and clean my face. You get two muslin cloths with this purchase which is always handy. They’re great for giving your face a thorough clean and taking every inch of dirt and make up off your skin. This tin set was part of their Christmas collection. For 150ml and two cloths, you buy £19. A good bargain of you ask me as the normal stand alone 100ml bottle is £14.
La Roche Posy Effaclar Duo [+]:
Now onto the absolute saviour of the skincare world! A few years ago, my skin took a turn and was constantly suffering from break outs. I have naturally sensitive skin but it was becoming a very annoying problem. Someone had suggested that I start using this and I have never looked back. It is beautifully moisturising on my skin and keeps any blemishes to a minimum.
I believe that a girl can never have too many perfumes. However with that said, it can become a costly addiction. Therefore, I found two dupes at Marks & Spencer that cost over half of the brand prices. Butterfly is a replica of DKNY’s Be Delicious (the green bottle). I came across this scent at the opening of their new beauty department at the Sprucefield store. I was instantly hooked and I save a lot when I’m in between the month. It’s great for wearing during the day as I like to keep my ‘good perfumes’ for special occasions.
Back in the day when I was a teenager I wasn’t allowed to buy perfume so I use to use my friends one. It was an Avon scent called Pure Blanca. Does anyone remember it or am I too old school?! Anyway, Isis is the double of it and acts as another great bargain busting perfume.
Hourglass Femme Nude:
Over the past two years, I have seriously become addicted to make up. I have so much that I have run out of storage yet I can’t help but purchase more. I find it worse when I make my regular trips to Boston and NYC. Every few months when I make the good old long haul flight, I reward myself with a trip to Sephora. You all know yourself how amazing that store is! Anyway, back to this post. For some reason, I never purchased the Hourglass Femme Nude shades. A solid natural lipstick is an essential part of my daily make up collection, so I am extremely excited to add this to the rest of my lippies.
Real Techniques Bold Metal Collection:
Saving the best until last, it’s the piece du resistant. There has been so much hype surrounding the Real Technique and their Bold Metal brush collection. You all know that I’m obsessed with rose gold, add a beautiful contour style brush to it and I’m in heaven. I haven’t got round to using it yet, but I’m really looking forward to creating a strong contouring look for a night on the town. I’ll report back soon with my thoughts on it.
Did all of you have a great weekend? How cold was it by the way?!?! I tried to snap some outfit posts, but the wind and coldness got in the way.
I’m all about statement pieces no matter what season we’re in. Although during summer, I love playing with my accessories that little bit more. This week, I changed my nail colour so I’ve been eager to make a bigger and bolder statement.
I’m such a huge fan of statement necklaces. I have a massive collection of different styles. More recently I started to invest in cocktail rings and a some Michael Kors arm candy. For today’s post, I’ve put together a collection of my most worn and favourite ‘go to’ accessories. With the sun making a big appearance over the last week or two, I am constantly reaching for my cute Warehouse sunglasses. Yesterday I picked up my chic monochrome French Connection glasses that I’m in love with. I look like quite the chic, but, I’m absolutely loving them! ♥
I’m beyond happy that it’s Friday! Definitely need a relaxing break this weekend. I’m heading to the Slieve Russell on today, so no doubt I’ll have a fab one! 😉
When it comes to creating that perfect smokey eye, I tend to lean more towards the copper, gold and brown tones. I find they work best with my skin tone and eye colour. Today I’ve selected my favourite ‘go to’ palettes that provide me with warm rich shades and great pigmentation.
I have four main brands that I go between, there are times when I work from one palette or mix and match shades together. Depending on what look I’m going for, I can either create soft golden tones or all out strong style.
The first two palettes I’m going to introduce you to are from Urban Decay and Marks & Spencer.
Urban Decay Naked Palette:
This palette is far from boring with the variety of fabulous shades that are in it. The starting tone, Virgin, is a great colour for highlighting your brow bone or inner corner of your eye. The collection finishes at the gritty, Gunmetal, a personal favourite of mine for contouring the outer corner and crease of your eye. My favourite shades from it have to be: Sin, Sidecar, Half Baked and Toasted. This palette is notoriously known within the beauty industry and recent winner of Debenhams beauty club awards 2014.
Marks & Spencer Autograph Palette:
You all know I’m obsessed with anything to do with Rose Gold, so when M&S launched this limited edition eyeshadow palette, I had to buy it. With a collection of highlighters and midtones, this miniature palette provides everything I need to work my magic. True be told, I prefer using this palette for a more relaxed daytime look.
Benefit World Famous Neutrals Palette:
Obviously Benefit are one of my favourite make up brands, I can’t get enough of their products. I won this palette last year at one of their events at The Ivory. This kit is their ‘Most Glamorous Nudes Ever’ and the shades are to die for. Within the palette there is a collection of four longwear powder colours and two creaseless cream shadows. This kit has all of the necessary shades in one palette that will allow you to create the fabulous smokey eye without switching from kit to kit. The adorable shadow names are too cute, they make the kit even more appealing.
MAC Brownluxe Palette:
MAC are renowned for their highly pigmintated shadows that are hugely popular with any girl who has a pulse. A little goes along way with their shades and if you’re looking for a strong and bold look, then this palette is a must have. I bought myself this when I was in Spain and it was the perfect kit for my holiday. The vibrant copper sparkle tone is my all time favourite, I wear it in the centre of my eye with the natural highlighter on my inner corner, and the dark chocolate brown on the outer corner.
I couldn’t find my beloved Sephora palette to include it. It’s by far one of my favourite kits. Hopefully I’ll find it asap though! Here’s the link to it in the meantime, Sephora Neutrals Palette. ♥
Do any of you have a ‘go to’ eyeshadow shade, palette or brand that you can’t live without? Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. ♥
