30 things before/while I’m 30 (a somewhat realistic bucket list)

Everyone has their own idea of a bucket list – some are travelled based, home interior inspired or just life goals in general. I’m hitting the good old dirty thirty in a matter of weeks and since turning twenty nine, it’s all I can think about. I’ve been dwelling on the negative side of things instead of looking towards my future and living in the moment. I often feel pressured by society to have settled down by now, own my own home, have produced a baby or two and of course, found that perfect job. Hate to break it to you but I’ve “accomplished” none of that and in a way – it makes me happy. Why should I settle for a bad relationship, put myself in debt over a mortgage when I can travel the world and actually do what I want to do with my life?! OK so … I could rant forever regarding expectations/pressures but for today I’ll just share my somewhat realistic bucket list. I’m putting a spin on the traditional bucket list and compiling my own little version – a list that is centered around the big 3.0. Some people have put together their 30 goals/aspirations before they turn thirty but as I can’t possibly complete all of them within six weeks, I have decided to name them my ’30 while I’m 30′ goals.

Best of 2014: Visiting the Benefit Boutique

On Saturday I was invited down to Dublin by the lovely, Sofia from Benefit Cosmetics, to visit their new boutique store located on the lush South William Street.

Having braved the horrendous weather, myself and my fellow blogger buddy, Christine (www.dollshousejournal.com), made our way to their stylish boutique on Grafton Street. I was fueled with excitement and anticipation as I was very curious as to how the store would look.

image

My eyes lit up as soon as I walked into the boutique. I’ve never seen such a fabulous store, it’s my dream store! The decor consisted of sweet candy coloured striped walls, vintage style mannequins and inspirational quotes covering the walls.

There was a great atmosphere in the VIP room where myself and fellow Irish bloggers enjoyed a catch up with Benefit babes, Mark and Sofia. At times it was hard for me to concentrate due to the delicious cupcakes and cookies that we had at our table.

The Benefit team walked us through their latest beauty launches for their new Lollitint and Porefessional transloosent powder. We also got to have a look at the amazing eyebrow gel that isn’t launching until March. Although us lucky bloggers got to get a sneak preview of it and a sample to take home. 🙂

It was such a fabulous afternoon catching up with the Benefit gang and finally getting to see the new boutique. Without a doubt, I’ll be taking another trip down to Dublin very soon for a day of pampering at the store!

Thanks to Sofia and Mark for inviting me down and spoiling me rotten with Bene goodies. Hopefully see you again soon! ♥

I also managed to fit in a little shopping in the magnificent, Brown Thomas, and of course, a sneaky pint of Guinness. 😉

Hope you all had a very stylish weekend! 😉

Best of 2014: Featured Artist: The Lust List

I’ve been a fan of Sally Spratt’s for a while now. While she has a quirky name, she is also an extremely talented graphic designer, artist and illustrator. Her passion for design lies in fashion, graphics, typography & illustration. I first came across her work on Instagram. This social media site is incredible for discovering new talent. Her handle name is ‘The Lust List’ and she uses this proudly in each of her illustrations.

You all know that I’m a huge fan of this form of art, particularly when it focuses on all things fab and fashion related. As Sally states in her Instagram biography, “If I can’t have them, I’ll draw them”. I love her outlook towards her illustrations, nice to know that she is a funny yet down to earth girl. 😉

image

image

Having studied Visual Communication at the University of Technology in Sydney, Sally’s career as an all round designer and illustrator began to take its course soon after graduating. I personally love how she combines certain themes throughout her pieces. With a Parisian style, there is lots of Chanel, chic scents and of course, the Effiel Tower! It’s perfection. ♥

image

image

image

The Lust List is basically a daily post involving a beautiful illustration representing a piece of fashion or beauty that Sally dreams of owning. Like I have previously said, I love her thinking behind her latest project. Every one of us has a ‘Lust List’ that consists of that perfect Chanel handbag, Tiffany ring, Hermès watch or Valentino heels. Why not put them onto paper?!

When I eventually have a home of my own, I want to fill it with breathtaking illustrations just like Sally’s. They’re such a fresh and fantastic take on the art of illustrations. They would look magnificent hung in a solid black frame to really make the art pop.

Best of 2014: Accessories: Love, Argento

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Argento store in Belfast city centre to celebrate the opening of their newly refurbished store. It was a fun filled evening with lots of friends, food, cosmopolitans and of course fabulous jewellery.

image

Firstly, for the occasion I wore a casual yet cosy look for the event. Lime is my favourite colour for this season, I teamed it with a check shirt, black jeans and my trusty biker boots. It was such a comfortable look for the evening.

image

So, back to the evening. It was the who’s who of the Northern Ireland social scene and of course a few of my blogging buddies were in attendance. I love meeting up with these girls, they’re always a delight! Unfortunately I didn’t think to get a group photo of us all but I did manage to steal a snap with Ruth from Willow Lane Blog and Ian from Rogues + Brogues.

image

image

As I entered the store I was amazed with the edgy detailing throughout it. The amout of jewellery on display was mind blowing and I have to admit that at first I was a little over whelmed as I didn’t know which beautiful piece to look at first.

image

image

How pretty are these delicate rings by Pandora. They’re the perfect pieces for stacking together and creating the layered look. The leaf style ring can also be worn as a stand alone statement style, think it’s about time I invested in a little Pandora. 😉

image

I fell head over heels in love with this magnificent sapphire necklace collection. They remind me so much of glorious styles that you would have seen on Elizabeth Taylor. The stone piece also reminds me of the necklace worn by Kate Winslet in Titanic, Heart of the Ocean. ♥

image

We were all incredibly lucky and grateful as the lovely folk at Argento gifted us all with a piece of jewellery of our choice. Fellow bloggers Aoife and Rosanne chose some fabulous pieces. Aoife opted for a beautiful statement necklace (top image) and Rosanne went with a gorgeous heart bracelet (bottom image).

image

image

Now onto my breathtaking yellow gold necklace. I have built up a fair share of rose gold styles so tonight I opted for something a little different. My eyes were immediately drawn to this jaw dropping pear shaped diamond piece. I love how delicate it is however with the gold colour and beautiful sparkle it is bold enough to make a statement. ♥

image

Up close you can really see the great detail running throughout. The colour is much more luxurious looking when in a normal setting which really makes it pop.

Thank you to Cathy Martin and Argento for inviting me. It was such a lovely evening and I can’t wait to go back to the store to pick up a few new styles for this season! Happy Friday, lovelies.

Best of 2014: Personal Achievement: Charity Challenge at Stormont

I’m sure you’re all aware that on Friday evening I was taking part in Belfast Fashion Week’s Charity Challenge at Stormont. As soon as I was asked to take part in this project I was extremely excited and to start shopping at my chosen charity, the Northern Ireland Hospice. Myself and twelve other fashion bloggers and stylists picked our chosen charities and began the process of putting togther our collections.

For the past few weeks, I gathered some looks from their Andersonstown and Finaghy stores. I wanted to select a collection of looks that represented my own personal style. On the night, I brought along a few of my own accessories to complete the looks. I was so excited to see my styles on the runway at the very lavish Stormont. I’m not going to lie, I was petrified of walking the runway with the model. At the end of the day it was about the charities and I couldn’t have been happier with my collection.

I’ve uploaded ten of my pieces so have a look and I would love to know what all of you lovelies think! ♥

Magnificent body art by the extremely talented, Paddy Mc Gurgan. I could not stop staring at the model, her eyes and the extreme detailing was out of this world!

Me and my fellow FABBer, Laurina from Dearest Diary. This little beauty was my wing woman for the night.

The stunning Stormont as our backdrop. It was the perfect setting for this amazing show, although I felt so sorry for the models walking down those stairs all night! 😉

Thank you to models: Sarah Kennedy, Ashleigh Coyle, Jane Higgins, Rebecca Maguire, Lauren Greer and the other girls for doing such a great job! ♥

I hope you’re all have a fab week! 😉 I’ve a few more exciting posts coming up so stay tuned! ♥
