TLC

A few years ago, my skin went through a very hormonal phase and it felt the need to punish me like no other. I tried everything and every product, I drank lots of water, tried changing my diet but nothing was helping. I even tried going off alcohol, so I must have been desperate! (A little beauty inspiration from The Lust List.)

image

Being friends with beauty bloggers has its benefits and I constantly asked them for advice/help. It took me to test out A LOT of beauty products. Some I tried for longer than the ‘let your skin settle 28 days’ and some I just didn’t have the patience for. I can remember the moment I started to relax more about finding a product that worked and it was at this time I came across two life changing products (for me anyway!).

Morning products

Nighttime products

Vichy Idealia Life Serum and La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo quickly helped to tame my hormonal skin. It certainly didn’t happen over night but eventually I did see an improvement. After that, I became more confident with my skin and enjoyed choosing which products I liked best as part of my daily skin routine.

I’ll start with my morning skincare products. Before applying any of my products I will wash my face using Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish cream. Using a hot cloth, I will clear my skin of any dirt or make up. (Not that my skin looks dirty of course!) This is by far my favourite cleanser, it has won over 100 awards so it’s an amazing product to use.

image

Next, I’ll start the process of applying my products. The rule applies here – always apply your eye cream first. When I was on holiday in Poland just after New Year, I popped my Sephora cherry and invested in some of their skincare favourites. When it comes to my eyes, I have dark circles, and few fine lines. I’m going to be brutally honest in this post, I hate when people pretend that they don’t have any imperfections! Since Krakow, I have been addicted to Sephora’s ‘Super Lisseur Age Defy Eye Cream’. It is incredibly moisturising and slowly but surely it is working well with my skin.

image

image

La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Duo has had rave reviews from various beauty bloggers. It took me a little while to jump on the bandwagon, eventually I caved and pruchased this magnificent cream. It’s designed at correcting, unclogging and preventing any future breakouts. Now, in no way will it banish imperfections forever, but it puts up a good fight!

image

image

Two Summer’s ago, I was invited to attend a beautiful event in the Merchant Hotel held by the lovely folks at Vichy. It was to celebrate the launch of their latest product at the time, their Idéalia Life Serum. The serum is designed to erase damages, cushion real time damages and protect our skin from future shock. It evens out your skin tone and helps give off a little glow. Now when it comes to products giving off a glow, I had yet to seebthe proof, until I used Vichy. I put this on after my La Roche Posay to help seal everything in.

image

I pretty much use all three of these products morning and night. Obviously in the morning I’ll include a moisturiser and at night I use an intensive mask. When it comes to a daytime cream, I use Organic Surge and their ‘Blissful Daily’ product. It feels so light on the skin but provides it with great moisture during entire the year. I’m not really one for switching up my products for each season, the ones I wear seem to work well throughout.

image

Now onto my mask, I have become obsessed with Origins, ‘Drink Up Intensive’ overnight mask. It seriously quenches my skins thirst and it smells devine! I can’t recommend this little beauty enough.

Are there any beauty products or remedies that you lovelies cannot live without?

Happy Friday, rascals! I’m off to Boston tomorrow, I’ll try and blog when I’m away. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram for daily updates State style!

Belfast Fashion Week AW14

On Friday night I attended Belfast Fashion Week and their local designers and boutiques show. All of the cities leading ladies were in attendance and all looking incredibly stylish. I love people watching during the shows as it is the perfect opportunity to take note of how they have created a certain look. It’s always an inspirational time for me and I often find myself thinking, “I never thought of styling that skirt that way.”

image

Friday was a very busy day for me so for the show, I wanted to wear something casual and comfortable. I opted for a complete Topshop look by coincidence. I have been wearing their bird printed longline jacket a lot recently and I teamed it with a burgundy lace crop top and white lace camisole. As you can tell, I’m really into lace this season. It’s effortlessly chic and easy to wear. I also wore my trusty leather trousers and tan ankle boots for the occasion.

image

I’m just noticing how pale I look in this photo. The joys of light reflecting make up and a camera flash, eh?! 😉

image

When it came to accessories, I chose my favourite tote from Tom and Eva along with my new Fiorelli necklace. I find that once I fall in love with a certain look, piece of fabric or accessory, I will wear it to the death. Are any you of lovelies like me?

image

The pretty Fiorelli necklace is of course a rose gold style. I have been obsessed with this style of jewellery for a few years now. I have built up a strong collection of costume statement necklaces so now I’m really into the more delicate look. I adore layering my jewellery, it adds a little more variety and creativity to your outfit. A few weeks ago, I attended the House of Frasers AW14 press show and we were gifted with a voucher to spend in store. I obviously choose this gorgeous necklace. Thank you ♥

I spent the evening with the adorable Aoife from Bella Malone and her lovely mama, Collette. Aoife is a fellow FABBer and all round cutie. We sat and lusted over the styles and models. I’m in the middle of growing my hair, I was feeling incredibly lazy on Friday, so I put a plait on both sides of my hair and pulled it back. I’m not use to this kind of look but I just styled for my mood. My make up was quite AW with a winged eyeliner look and MAC’s lipstick in Sin. I felt like quite a rebel wearing it!

image

Of course, the models were all absolutely stunning looking. Each look was just perfection, a strong model and flawless designer is always the ultimate combination when it comes to a successful FashionWeek. Cathy Martin, BFW designers, models and everyone who assisted in the shows did a magnificent job. I had a great evening, thank you!

Inspirational Blogger || We Are Twinset

So today for my Inspirational segment, I’m focusing on two stylish ladies, Philippa Bloom and Sarah Tankel Ellis, from London who work together on a style blog called, We Are Twinset. They are stylists and best friends, the perfect combination for starting up a blog. Working within London’s fast paced fashion industry, these two lovelies know a thing or two about style. The design of their blog is fab, you all know I’m a sucker for illustrations and their site is simple yet effective.

image

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the lovely Philippa a few weeks ago in London. She is incredibly chic and makes looking stylish completely effortless, something I really admire. Philippa is style editor at You Magazine, the The Mail on Sunday’s weekly feature. She has an in depth knowledge of the industry having interned at Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar and Stella. Sarah has even had the opportunity to work with blogging sensation, Suzie Bubble.

image

image

Sarah has also great insider knowledge of the fashion industry as she is stylist on ITV’s Lorraine tv show. She has had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and gain thee best experience. Sarah even had the pleasure of meeting David Beckham.

image

image

Everyday the lovelies behind We Are Twinset, share their style visions side by side. The piece of clothing or accessory may be the same, but they have styled it in their own individual way. It’s fresh to see a duo of bloggers working online in a new way.

image

image

Each season there is always a trend that has a strong impact within the fashion industry. From over sized check styles to fabulous faux fur, Philippa and Sarah are always up to date while incorporating their own taste and opinions in what they wear.

image

image

image

Their blog is mainly image based with a short description of each look. They are honest is what they are saying. A certain trend may not be a personal favourite but they understand that it may work for others. The girls are constructive in how they approach a certain trend.

My Week on Instagram ♥

It has been a busy week for me on the Instagram front. I have been blogging like no other and posting my usual style, beauty and lifestyle images. I have to say that I’m loving this time of year, I’ve always been more of an Autumn/Winter girl. Between building up my AW14 wardrobe, travelling, event going and of course the big one, Halloween, it is by far my favourite time of year.

Today I’m sharing a few of my favourite images that I’ve posted in the past week. From the standard Monday Blues ( A Megan Hess illustration) to oriental style florals, there is quite a random mixture of cuteness. Oooh and keep an eye out for MAC’s fabulous collaboration with the Rocky Horror Picture Show! The excitement! ♥

Inspirational Blogger || Song of Style

It has been a while since I last shared some of my favourite bloggers with all of you lovelies. I love the weekends as I completely get lost in catching up with my best loved fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers. Whether I’m browsing their online blogs or scrolling through their Instagram photos, I always feel inspired by their style, beauty looks and just how much effort they put into blogging.

image

Today, I want to talk about Aimee Song from Song of Style. I adore everything about this beautiful Californian blogger and Interior Designer. She has such a strong look but can wear a pair of sunnies at the beach and still look completely flawless.

image

image

It wasn’t until I was around 21 years old that I really started to take interest in fashion. I was a real tom boy growing up and I love how Aimee was the same. During an interview with The Telegraph newspaper she said: “I was a tomboy as a teenager; I played a lot of sports in high school.” Knowing that she embraced her look as she matured is inspirational to me as she doesn’t take things too seriously and simply grew into her own personal style.

image

image

image

Her style is a mixture of everything with her Californian roots always coming through in an incredibly chic manner. No matter what style she wears, Aimee always looks fabulous and effortless. For me, that’s really important as you should never look awkward or uncomfortable in anything that you are wearing.

image

image

image

image

image

Not only does she post about her style, Aimee is kean on always capturing great moments in her life as a successful and grateful blogger. She is lucky enough to travel the world, eat mouthwatering food from different countries and pick up great beauty tips along the way.

I love coming across bloggers who inspire you to stick at it, work hard and enjoy every second of your online adventures. I have a collection of fashionable beauties that I follow and today is all about Ms. Song. Her blog is a must yo follow and check out Aimee’s Instagram for truly beautiful photos. ♥
