Sunset Beach

When I was a teenager I use to watch a TV show called, Sunset Beach. It was such a cringe worthy soap and I loved every minute of it. I think it was based in California in a Laguna Beach type location. It would make your skin crawl as the acting and storylines were so bad but that’s what made it so good, very Days Of Our Lives style.

I spent Halloween up in the North Coast of Ireland in a town called, Portstewart. It’s the most idyllic seaside village with the most beautiful scenery and sunsets (hence the TV show reminiscing). Myself and my man friend made a quick stop at the beach as I couldn’t resist a quick OOTD shoot against the magnificent backdrop. The beach was pretty empty at this time of evening apart from the odd dog walker and a few surfers. The waves were amazing and the sky was turning a pretty pink and reflecting beautifully off the silky sand.

For our day out/road trip, I opted for my favourite khaki bomber jacket from Topshop and paired it with my grey embellished tee (you can see it fully here) from Warehouse and my biker jeans from Zara. I’ve been loving my Adidas Superstars so much this season and I’ve been wearing them pretty much everyday as they’re incredibly comfortable! My trusty Parfois cross body bag and Oakley sunnies made for the perfect accessories.

I hope you all had a great weekend and didn’t have to endure too much of a Halloween hangover. I guess now that it’s November the Christmas countdown has officially begun! This year is going by soooo fast!

Inspirational Blogger || Anouska Proetta Brandon

Anouska Proetta Brandon is an Irish fashion blogger who has made a massive name for herself within the industry. Today there are a lot of bloggers from the green isle who are creating and building a career for themselves following in Anouska’s footsteps. She is one of few who have went beyond the profile of just being a blogger and working with huge names such as: H&M, River Island and Parfois.

Starting up her blog in 2011, she wanted to create an outlet to share her personal style. Today it has transformed into a fashion, lifestyle, travel and photography blog. Basically anything Anouska finds inspirational can be found on her blog and incorporated into her own style in a unique and timeless manner. Her style is definitely described as classic meets chic with basic staples paired alongside bold accessories and sharp structures.

In my opinion, Anouska is the kind of girl who can wear pretty much any look. She has the body shape and confidence to rock a cute demin skater dress (a style that can be hard to pull off) or a full on structured suit. She is 1/2 Irish, 1/4 Spanish and 1/4 Austrian. Her first name is Russian and her second name (Proetta) is Italian, and of course Brandon is Irish. No wonder the girl can wears so many looks with all of these amazing cultures in her blood. Can we also just take a moment to appreciate the simplicity of black lace and a silk scarf?! Absolute perfection!

Did I forget to mention that Anouska has a thing for printed floors?! Yes, you heard, floors. As us bloggers are keen to take inspiration from pretty much all areas of life and decorate our Instagram and blogs with beautiful and unique shots, you can often find the ‘from where I stand’ hastag a strong favourite in our feeds. The perfect shoes are essentials as is the textile on the floors, with some sneaky editing and perhaps a filter, you’re pretty much good to go.

I was in complete awe over Anouska and her style during a recent trip to Prague. Her pictures were beyond breathtaking with perfect shots of iconic landmarks, the obligatory ice cream angle and of course her fabulous style. I fell head over heels in love with this magnificent wide leg jumpsuit. It looks effortless on Anouska as she has kept the rest of her accessories etc to a minimum.

With Autumn just a stone throw away, I cannot wait to see what gorgeous layered looks Anouska will be wearing. I would seriously recommend checking out her blog if you eat, sleep and breathe fashion. If there are any bloggers you would like to see featured, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! 🙂

Hozier Concert || OOTD

There is no better way to end the Summer than going to Belsonic to see Hozier. I have been a massive fan of his since the release of his first single, Take Me To Church. The Wicklow born singer wowed the crowd and I had an incredible night. Anytime I go to a concert, particularly an outdoor festival I opt for a look that is casual, comfortable and definitely gig appropriate.

I purchased this Topshop Khaki Bomber at the start of July and it has been one of the best buys. I’ve worn it to a few festivals and it keeps you so warm. The colour is amazing and it goes with so many looks. It is a short style with gold zip detailing along the arms. Last week I nipped into Zara to get some new tops and picked up this fab long side spilt slogan piece. I have a serious addiction to rose gold and metallic details. It was quite a ‘matchy, matchy’ outfit but that’s what I loved most about it.

I paired the look with my trusty tan Parfois cross body bag. It holds so much, I was even able to fit in my Nikon camera. I love how it added a little embellishment into my outfit without over powering it too much. For my make up, I kept it relatively simple with Benefit’s They’re Real Liner and Mascara. I opted for the liner in purple and mixed it with my jet blue mascara. I absolutely loved my look, very festival inspired!

Now that Summer is coming to an end, I cannot wait for Autumn. I’m much more of an A/W baby, I just love the dark nights. Even when it comes to clothing, I much prefer a statement coat and lots of layers.

Sunday Best

Slowly but surely the dark days are on the turn around and it will be time to break out our Spring looks. Feeling this way, I styled my Sunday best with a touch of colour incorporated. Last year when I was down in Dublin, I took a trip to Penny’s (the Irish version of Primark). They always have better stock than Belfast and you’re not going to see every Tom, Dick and Harry wearing the same item as you. It was there that I picked up this bold printed longline jacket. It’s quite lightweight and extremely comfortable to wear making it an essential piece to style.

Teaming it with my Topshop blouse and ripped boyfriend jeans, Parfois bag and Carvela wedges, I was weekend ready. The jacket has a soft print running throughout it making it look all the more pretty. I wanted to keep the base of my look simplistic with bold elements mixed in. I purchased this pretty flamingo cross body bag on the same trip to Dublin. Any time I’m in the capital, I always nip into Parfois. It’s the perfect purse friendly brand and they have a gorgeous selection of bags and accessories available.

I purchased these Carvela gladiator wedges around two years ago. Since then, I have not stopped wearing them. They are so comfortable to wear and go with every look within my wardrobe. I prefer a wedge look as I find them less painful, particularly if I’m planning on dancing the night away.

It has been a while since I last featured a full outfit look on the blog. Feels good to get back into the swing of it. I hope you all had a delightful weekend.

Flamingo Season

Over the weekend, I took a quick trip down to Dublin for their Fashion Festival. The stylish Cathy O Connor and Brendan Courtney were hosting their own style segments as part of the festival. I have always been a huge fan of both fashion figures and I was excited to get the opportunity to meet them.

image

As much as I was down in the City for fashion related events, I couldn’t help but squeeze in a quick trip to Gino’s ice cream and crepe parlour. I first tried their mouthwatering ice cream back in June and I’ve been hooked ever since! I also meet up with a beautiful Irish designer to discuss an amazing project that will be happening this year! 🙂

image

In between the shows and my meeting, I couldn’t resist a visit to Parfois. I absolutely adore their handbags, purses and jewellery, so I was excited to see what they had in store for AW14. I’ve been quite good over the past few months when it comes to shopping for handbags and clutches. I have built up quite a collection and now I buy only styles that are unique and a must have!

image

My eyes instantly lit up when I came across this quirky flamingo style cross over. It’s such a unique bag, I can also wear it as a clutch bag which is great. I have never really came across a print like this before so I knew I had to have it. I had a huge smile on my face when I was paying for it as I was excited to add it to my wardrobe and it only cost me £23! ♥

image

It’s a big bag which I love and the detailing of it is just perfect. The flap over has a hidden zip in it and the interior is gorgeous. It’s big enough to hold all of my daily essentials and make up for when I’m on the move.

image

The print on the bag is such a dreamy design. I have always loved flamingos and it’s a nice change from the animal print trend. Cats, dogs, zebras, they’ve all been ‘in trend’ at some stage. This pretty print is a nice change and one that I can’t help but invest in.

I have to admit that it felt good to take one week off from blogging. I needed to recharge my batteries and focus on other things. However, I’m sooo happy to be back! A rest is always good. 😉
