I have a serious love/hate relationship with my skin but I’d say over the past year it’s thankfully been more love than hate. After attending an event by the lovely folks at Image Skincare a few year’s ago, I got into conversation regarding my skin. They recommended I visit Réjouir Skin Clinic (you can read all about it here) on the Lisburn Road. During the visit I learnt that my previous skincare routine had to go. I was using the wrong products, to be honest I didn’t have enough knowledge to even understand what I had been using. The lovely owner Pamela, explained to me in detail (she has the patience of a saint) and after me asking a hella lot of questions I was on the road to skin recovery.
When I first heard of Pestle & Mortar I immediately think of the cooking equipment used to crush and grind spices and other ingredients. However, when I discovered that it was actually a skincare brand that is created with beauty and body wellness as its mantra I was definitely intrigued. Founded in early 2014 by Sonia Deasy, it is a family owned company that wanted to create a serum that was genuinely healthy for your skin and hassle free for those of us who have a busy lifestyle.
First of all can we just take a minute to appreciate the incredibly gorgeous packaging of the Pure Hyaluronic Serum?! It is just so chic and simplistic, I’m such a sucker for a well designed product! Now, back to business… For those of you who follow my blog or social media accounts (shame on you), you will all know just how much I love a good serum. I find this type of product works best with my skin type. I recently learnt that a liquid or gel product is best for my skin as it gets congested quite bad. I love the luxury feeling you get with a serum and the way it leaves my skin feeling. Less is certainly more when applying them as they’re quite a liquid based product you don’t need much. It actually reminds me a lot of the Josie Maran Aragon Oil that I got when I was in America. It’s pretty lightweight when applied and it doesn’t leave a greasy or oily residue. Bonus points!
I’ve been using this for just over one month now every night as this is when my skin responds best. It allows my skin to absorb the serum to its full potential. Each morning I can still feel a some of the product on my face which I actually like as I’ll know that my skin hasn’t completely drained it.
Have any of you lovelies tried the Pestle & Mortar brand before? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I was first introduced into the Vichy skincare brand two years ago at an event held in the Merchant Hotel. I was just home from holiday so my skin was in need of some TLC after being exposed to the sun for two weeks. At the time, it was the launch of their Idéalia Life Serum and it was the first product I used to pop my Vichy cherry!
Their latest launch was held at the pretty Radisson Blu Hotel in the idyllic Gas Works setting. Surrounded by water, it was the perfect setting for the reveal of their new and improved, LiftActiv Supreme. Every Vichy event that I have been to always involves fun and food! The perfect combination if you ask me, add in some beauty products and I’m in heaven. We all sipped on sweet, tropical drinks while all while overloading on some delicious cupcakes and pick ‘n’ mix treats. I told you I was in heaven!
I always get sidetracked talking food, so back to the beauty. What I like most about Vichy is the scientific research behind each and every product. An in depth presentation is always on hand and we are all provided with every reason and ingredient used. In regards to their new LiftActiv Supreme, it is designed to target the signs of aging as they appear thanks to their new advanced ingredients.
Up for discussion was a few other products that are sure to chater to your every skincare need. I always have problems with my eye area, in particular dark circles. I have tried a wide variety of brands and have yet to find one that I’m happy with. In our goodie bags was their eye contour from the Idéalia range which I’m looking forward to reviewing.
It is always a positive note when a skincare brand caters to all skin types both young and mature. Included within the gift bag was also this sweet shimmering serum, Neovadiol Magistral Elixir aimed at women who are fifty and fabulous, experiencing or post menopause, with sensitive and dry skin due to the hormonal slowdown .
Thank you to Zara and Nicola for a lovely event. I’m excited to test out the products and hopefully kick start my dark circle marathon.
It’s my first proper post back since before the festive season and I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. ♥
I’ve blogged briefly about my ‘Best of 2013’ posts, my Flipagram video and my nails, but, now it’s time to get back to business. 🙂
With all of the gift vouchers that you receive, I find them a great opportunity to branch out and purchase something you wouldn’t usually buy. Now I’m sure you’re thinking I’ve bought something extravagant from the way I’ve worded this, but, I thought I’d treat myself to a little Liz Earle.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my skincare products, but, sometimes spending a little more money on them makes me feel a little nervous as they might not work. Using your gift cards are a great opportunity to shop for those products you’ve been eyeing up. Well, that’s my way of thinking! 😉
I opted for their Superskin Eye and Lip treatment. I’ve always heard fabulous reviews about this product so I’d thought I’d purchase it in the hope that I’ll start the new year looking fresh under the eyes. 😉
The product consists of naturally active ingredients such as: Pear Seed Extract, Organic Rosehip Oil and Cranberry Seed Oil. The potent blend of these naturally active ingredients in an intensive serum is specifically formulated to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Powerful botanicals, rich in omega 3, GLA and antioxidants work to leave your delicate eye and lip area feeling plump, smooth and rejuvenated.
I’ve only been using this product for a few days now, but, so far I’m happy with it. I’ll keep you updated with the final results later. It is quite a costly product so I’m hoping that it’s worth the hype and price!
Happy New Year! ♥
Today I attended a truly fabulous event at The Merchant Hotel where Vichy were launching their Idéalia Life Serum. As soon as I entered the doors, I was greeted with a delicious glass of Prosecco and a room full of laughing women. As the music blasted feet tapping tunes, I took at seat alongside my FABB ladies and nibbled on mouth watering burgers, ice cream cones and candy floss. It was like being at a princess party, there was even a photo booth where we all dressed up and had such fun.
Once we were finished giggling like school girls, we headed into the function room where the lovely Jenette gave us an informative talk on the techniques behind the Vichy brand and their new Idéalia Life Serum. I really learnt things about beauty that I had never thought imaginable.
The Idéalia Life Serum is designed to:
- Erase damages
- Cushion real time damages and
- Protect our skin from future shock
It is suggested that I use this serum twice daily, once in the morning and then at night. Within seven or eight days my skin should have a fresh complexion, even skin tone, rested features and refined pores. I’m going to start using it tonight so I’ll keep you posted on how I found the product.
Once the presentation had finished, we headed up the Merchant’s roof top garden. We were handed a pink Vichy balloon and told to write down our beauty wish. It was good fun thinking of what to write (I had quite a lot of wishes!) and once completed, we released them into the sky.
At the end of the event, we were all presented with a Vichy goodie bag that contained the Idéalia serum and smoothing and illuminating cream. Both are designed to even skin texture and complexion while smoothing out those annoying little wrinkles.
Apologies for the poor image quality, I’m using my old phone until my new one arrives. Thank you to Nicola and the amazing Vichy team for providing us with these gorgeous Vichy products and for putting together a brilliant event.
