Una Rodden Fashion Installation

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a fabulous fashion first in the form of live models integrated with stunning video clips of Una Rodden’s magnificent AW13 collection.

The event was so refreshing and it was amazing to be able to get the opportunity to get up close and personal with her stunning pieces.

Una is a personal favourite of mine within the designer industry, and how can I forget the beautiful dress she made for me to wear at my brothers wedding in July.

The setting for the show was just beautiful. The room had a magnificent dome in the roof and it worked beautifully with the fashion installation.

It was amazing to be in the company of such a talented and down to earth designer. Una’s store is located on Upper Arther Street in the City Centre. It is definitely worth visiting!

Happy Friday. Hope you all have a great weekend. ♥

My ‘Hills’ Moment

Working within the fashion industry is amazing and leaves me with an unbelievable feeling of determination, motivation and happiness. I’ve been writing all about the latest trends, events and purchases for a while now and I wanted to expand my experience within this industry. Please welcome Grainne Maher. For those of you who have been living on another planet, Grainne is a fabulous milliner and jewellery designer who has her very own concession, Pluck & Devour, at the House of Fraser.

Having dreamed of working within the fashion industry all of my life, I was over the moon when an opportunity to assist Grainne backstage at the Arthur Cox fashion show at The Merchant Hotel.

It was brilliant to get a sense of how things work behind the scenes of a fashion show. It was so fun dressing the models and helping various designers such as Una Rodden throughout the evening. I was assigned to help dress the beautiful Tiffany Brien, former Miss Northern Ireland 2012. It was great working with her and seeing first hand how much hard work models put into each show.

The show was hosted by the fabulous Cathy O’Conner who regularly styles editorials for TV3’s Xpose and style fashion features and make overs on ‘Ireland AM’. It was a joy to be in the company of such a strong and inspirational woman.

I had an amazing time at the fashion show and I’m excited to continue styling and assisting in future shows. Thank you to Gráinne and the rest of the girls for having me along. ♥

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Una Rodden Dress for Nerja Wedding

I know I’ve been showing you all of the fashion and beauty buys I purchased in Spain, but, I thought I’d upload a photo of the dress I wore to my brothers wedding.

I decided to wear a dress by the amazing and extremely talented, Una Rodden. As soon as I set eyes on this stunning dress, I knew I had to have it.

What I love most about it is the fact that there’s no structure to it. It was thee most comfortable dress I’ve ever worn. I loved the colour of it.

As a gift, Una gave me this fabulous multi coloured statement necklace to wear with it. I didn’t wear any other accessories with it and I wore a beautiful pair of embellished gold sandals from Accessorize.

I had an unbelievable time at the wedding. Back to reality now! 😦

Boutique & Designer Night at BFW

Despite the heavy snow, power cuts and all round crazy weather, Belfast Fashion Week, heated up the Ulster Museum as they showcased the hottest designers and local boutiques that Northern Ireland has to offer.

Cathy Martin, Director of FASHIONWEEK said: “The weather outside may be grim but it certainly hasn’t put a dampener on our show tonight.  It was touch and go for a while as we lost power for around half an hour, but our audience came for a show and a show is what we gave them”.

She said: “The designer/boutique show is always very popular and a favourite of many as it brings so much variety, creativity and flair to the FASHIONWEEK runway and this season has been no different.  Our dedicated fans at last night’s event were treated to an array of stunning, glamorous and one-of-a-kind designs sashaying down the catwalk delighting all who set their eyes on them.”

Diamond Dolls from Banbridge and vintage store Jacob Street in Belfast lit up the Ulster Museum alongside chic Belfast boutiques Jourdan and Blush from the Lisburn Road. These locally owned boutiques were complemented by a whole host of talent in the form of designers Una Rodden, Grainne Maher, Ruedi Maguire of the RUEDI range, and guest designer Alexandra Heath.  Locally owned and nationally successful jewellery store Argento also made an appearance as its wide range of chic accessories added the final touch to many of the outfits.

It just shows you that the stylish ladies of Northern Ireland will brace rain, hail or snow to take their seat at NI’s hottest fashion show. Needless to say, it was a very successful night.
