A short and sweet post for today as I’m heading off to Spain for some adventures in the sun. I’m beyond excited for this trip as a well deserved break is needed! I love when you first get off the plane and the heat hits you in the face. Plenty of sun, sea and sangria will be the main theme on my Instagram for the week. I’m hoping to fit in a little shopping while I’m there and indulge in a few road trips so stay tuned!
There’s nothing more majestic than receiving that ‘order shipped’ email. If I’m in work or out I literally bound my family to the house so that I don’t miss the package! Sounds pretty selfish I know but when I see that “sorry we missed you” card I could cry my eyes out. Anyway, on Monday I was ecstatic to come home from work to see my Beauty Bay order waiting for me. I finally got round to ordering the magnificent Rose Golden Luxury Set Vol. 3 from the iconic makeup brush brand, Zoeva.
Most people spend December going mad with some last minute Christmas shopping, finishing up with work and prepping for the big day. However I like to think I’ve been busy enough to deserve a mini city break (the absolute cheek) during the mist of it all. From 18th-21st December I spent four glorious days in Germany’s capital, Berlin. It was a joint Christmas present that my man friend and I decided to plan. Read More
I actually cannot believe that October is coming to an end. The week’s have been flying in and before we know it we’ll be celebrating Christmas! I’m so excited for Halloween, I just love seeing the decorations. I think I’ll just opt for a nice takeaway and some drinks all while indulging in some scary films. I have been trying my best to save as I have so much going on at the minute. I’m hoping to update my technology gadgets, a new camera and laptop are on the cards so I must save like no other as they’re not cheap! That being said, I have managed to build up a nice little favourites corner of products, clothes and accessories to share with all of you today.
I recently invested in a new paint pot from MAC in the shade, Groundwork. It’s very Kylie Jenner esque for all of you 90’s fans. I use Painterly as a neutral base however I wanted a darker shade for a more deep vampy look. They are such good base tones and make blending out my shadows effortless! I’ve been absolutely loving red nail polish again. It’s such a classic look and my favourite colour to wear during Autumn. When Winter comes I usually opt for a much darker shade. It’s from Marc Jacobs and I recently featured it on the blog, here. I’ve been kicking it old school a lot with my trusty Benefit bronzer, Hoola. It’s such a universal shade and again is so easy to blend. I use it to warm up my face and as a light base shade for when I am contouring. I’ve been on the search for a new daytime foundation and opted for the L’Oréal Infallible matte collection. I’ve only been using it for a week or so but so far I’m really enjoying it. The colour match is perfect and it has a great last power, not very many touch ups required however as I have such oily skin I do need to work on my T – zone but other than that I love it.
My final beauty favourite for this month has been my Zoeva palette in, Coco Blend. It’s warm neutral collection with some beautiful deep reds and browns thrown into the mix. I’m such a sucker for a buttery texture with my eye shadows and this palette is no expection. The pigmentation is good however I would suggest mixing some Fix+ from MAC if you’re looking to create a spotlight eye as the highlight shades need a little help. Other than that I still absolutely adore this palette.
You’re all probably fed up from seeing my camel coat and shoes from, Next but they’re by far my favourite key pieces for this season. I featured them on the blog a few week’s ago ( you can read it here) and I haven’t stopped wearing them. The shoes are so comfortable to wear and the coat is incredibly chic and easy to style. When I was in Dublin a little while ago, I stocked up on some Pandora and Mango goodies. The lovely girls at Pandora invited me down to see their new Christmas collection where I was kindly gifted with this rose gold feather ring. I already have the matching necklace and I was dying to get the ring. I absolutely love it, it’s a beautiful statement piece while giving off a pretty delicate vibe too. I also ventured into Mango and picked up some gorgeous Autumn pieces including this floor length grey cardigan. Apologies that you can’t see all of it, I’m planning on shooting a look with this very soon on the blog!
In celebration of Halloween, I wanted to share a snap or two from my favourite holiday. Last year I was in Salem for the festivities and had an amazing time checking out the town. It was an unbelievable experience and my real life, Hocus Pocus. Definitely need to back back again for a visit!
Have any of you got any plans for Halloween?! I love scrolling through Instagram to see how much effort people put into their costumes, particularly the beauty bloggers that I follow. Have a great one no matter what you get up to!
I was thinking of ways to share my favourite Autumn skincare and make up products and instead of featuring them in separate posts, I thought why not combine them in one essentials collection. During the colder months, my skin definitely likes to plays tricks on me. A lot of hydration is required and minimal skincare products play a huge role in looking after it. When it comes to make up I love nothing more than opting for a warm red/burgundy smoky eye for an evening out.
Over the weekend I was in Dublin and popped into Brown Thomas to update my Charlotte Tilbury collection and invest in another of her eyeshadow palettes in The Dolce Vita. The pigmentation from her quartz are so beautiful and buttery. I find them a dream to blend and I love how I can create a neutral or bold look using only four shades. Her idea behind this product is to give us ladies the perfect desk to disco using limited shades. The fabulous rusted gold colour is amazing on its own but spritzed with some one MAC Fix+ it pops like no other. The shades are very Autumn appropriate and the perfect foursome for this season. I also have one of her other quartz in The Vintage Vamp. I get so much use out of it and even though her products are quite high end, I personally think they are worth every penny.
The highlight takes a more natural front with beautifully simplistic dusting on the high points of my face. Obviously during the summer months, it’s all about that glow but during the darker months I like to take it back a bit and only apply little amounts on certain area of my face. I’ll use a matte primer and add highlight through my favourite products, Champagne Pop(a collaboration between Jaclyn Hill and Becca Cosmetics) and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. These are my saviours during this season as they help set, bronze and highlight my skin when it is looking a little dull.
Over the past four months the penny has finally dropped for me when it comes to skincare. It took me years to truly understand certain products, what they’re for and what ingredients are best suited for my skin. I’ve an oily skin type and it is so sensitive. I tend to lean towards gel/foam pike products that have hydrochloric and salicylic acid. I have loved serums for so long and I have recently introduced oil based skincare into my routine. I was under the wrong impression regarding oil products as I thought they would clash with my skin type but it adds so much hydration. A few week’s ago, I started using The Body Shop and their Vitamin E Face Mist along with the Oils of Life. Both have been a God send and I actually look forward to prepping my skin. The mist is so refreshing for wearing as a stand alone product or misting over make up. Once a week I try to use a mask to clean the previous seven days out of my skin. Green tea is notoriously good for the skin and I was very excited to try Asarri and their Green Tea Mud Mask. I haven’t been using it for very long but so far I’m enjoying the results.
I’m convinced that this next brand has helped save my skin and settle it down. Bioderma has been a new edition to my routine and I can’t imagine what I would do without it. It is such a natural brand and I find their products to be incredibly kind to my skin. I use their H20 serum, lip balm and Sensibio H20 Micellaire water to remove make up and cleanse my skin. Definitely a recommendation!
As we layer so much during A/W I find it crucial to manicure my nails as I’m always so covered up. Accessories and nails are always a must for me and I love keeping it all classic with a simple red. I reach for my Marc Jacobs polish time and time again. To give it more of a gel finish, I’ll set it with one coat of my Nails Inc top coat. A perfect duo that will create maximum effect.
I think I need to invest in some dark brown lipsticks to make my Autumn collection complete. I want to change up my lip shades a little and I think opting for a more 90’s look will be fab.
